Alright you lot.

Welcome to my first MDT thread in ages. It's......

Leicester vs Boro
The Riverside Stadium
Tuesday 24th February 2026
19:45pm

And I would like to bestow you all a big wet, sloppy W in this one, and twelve more of those to follow, or at least no L's

After Saturday’s 0-0 masterpiece against Oxford, in which we bravely refused to score against a team 2nd bottom of the league, despite having 102 'shots', we now welcome Leicester City to the Riverside on Tuesday night.

The situ

We're second
We're still second
We're six points ahead of 3rd
(Yes I know Ipswich have a couple of games in hand but)
We're second
We're going up (We are going up)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5YncMOB-WI

Which feels ridiculous given we’ve just spent 90 minutes trying to break down Oxford like we were trying to push the sofa through a letterbox.

I've dealt with Cov. I thought we were unlucky there, and the performance gave me nowt to worry about. Oxford was different. Now I am a bit worried.

You know me on here, I don't get worried, its normally @Rob and me saying 4-0 or 5-0 Boro. The eternal optimists. Glass half full and all that.

Btw, are you staring at my pint?

But Leicester will be different. And there'll be gaps to exploit. Just depends if we fancy having some shots on goal rather than passing for the sake of passng (Copyright, Sorba Thomas all rights reserved etc..)

And Leicester... rolling into town with their new manager, parachute payments, highly paid players and questionable haircuts.

Perfect timing innit?

They'll have watched Cov, and Oxford and they'll expect the Riverside to be nervy if we don't score first, or in the first 10 mins. And if they get to 25 mins with it at 0-0 they'll just watch us pass it about nicely and wait for their opportunity to beat us.

Thing is, our manager is class, and if they come to play football then we'll have no problem winning this one comfortably

Team & stuff to argue about

Conway's groin
Targett's leg/foot issues
Conway's lack of goals
Whittaker's lack of goals
Strelec's lack of goals
Sarmiento - should he start again, or do we go with Emu?
WHERE TF is Castledine?
Fry out > Ayling in?
WHY DIDN'T WE SIGN BAMFORD/ARMSTRONG/A.N.OTHER

I'm going...

Brynn
Brittain Ayling Malanda Targett
Morris Hackney
Browne McGree
Conway Whittaker

I want us on the front foot. I want Leicester uncomfortable. I want Hackney snapping into tackles instead of jogging sideways for 90 minutes and touching his hair.

And I want a shot on target in the first 5 mins. Ta.

Predictions

Heart says 4-0 Boro
Head says 3-1 Boro with them scoring first, ffs
There'll be a Hackney thunderbastard from 25 yards
A header from Malanda (finally)
And Penelope Cruz will get one at the end after coming on as a late sub, with the game won

Questions

1. Lineup?

2. Score?

3. What's your favourite boro goal so far this season?

4. Favourite flavour of Walkers crisps (or any other brand of crisp)

5. What music are you listening to at the moment? Getdown Services are my current earworms. They are bloody great and hilarious. Watch this vid:

Over to you

Back to the previous team. Whittaker playing on crutches.

He wasn’t happy about heading the ball so they adjusted his training. Well I can tell you his training is going really well. 😀

  • I'd play Strelec purely because we desperately need him to come good. If we can't beat this Leicester team at home then we're in big trouble for the autos.

they need a trip to Thailand to save them again I reckon

I think we should do this and they will do that because if we do this then this or that might happen and then they can’t do that.

Good MDT Simon 👍

Leicester have 8 of the top 10 earners in the Championship and still have some players from the Premier League.

No push overs.... difficult game but I think we will get back to winning ways. 2-1 👍

My instincts are hit and miss but last two games my instincts were right as per my comments on the respective match day threads for them games.

I felt we would lose to Coventry and we did. I also said Oxford was a banana skin and never felt confident we would win.

I think Leicester will prove to be a very tricky game than it would have been a week ago. Individually they got some good players and Rowett is no world beater but he knows how to effectively set up a team at this level to frustrate and nick a goal. My heart says draw but sadly my head says 0-1 to Leicester.

No panic though. We will come good for final 12 hopefully.

Well we did better than Leicester when they played Oxford at home, they were beaten 2 - 1. So I’ll take that as a positive and go for a 2 - 0 win and I’ll be even more optimistic and go for Morris to score his first goal.

I saw Getdown Services in the summer. They were very good

Not seen them live yet but they’re at latitude festival which I’m going to. Can’t wait

They havent won away from home since early December, and I don't think they'll play as defensive as Oxford.. predicting a 2-1 to us.

And tomato ketchup flavour.. if they still do them.

It will be hard for us to know what to expect from Rowatt's Leicester but at least we have the Stoke game to analyse.

They'll play more open than Oxford did and I think there'll be goals. 3-2 Boro.

The thing that worries me about Leicester is they may play a rowett style low block but they also have vastly superior attacking quality to counter attack us than Oxford did. I don’t think they’ll be as solid as Oxford were though, also not sure how their attitude/confidence will be. Will they get stuck in or be more of a light touch etc.

I don’t think their strikers are great but their wingers and CMs are up there.
