Would like to see Sarmiento come in for this one and go back to the 4222 and drop either ayling or fry don’t mind which one probably drop fry because Swansea won’t go long as much and ayling’s a lot better on the ball and closing down (think you probably have him quite tight with Vipotnik) would also go munroe assuming that Targett can’t play because he seems tidier on the ball than Bangura

Brynn

Brittain Ayling Malanda munroe

Browne Morris

Mcgree sarmiento

Strelec Conway

Want to see Sarmiento on his preferred side because he seems to be playing mostly to the right when he has played (although ineffective completely so far wherever he’s played lol) and think mcgree would be fine either side because he drifts all over anyway and Browne and Brittain will attack that side when he does

I'd put Sene ahead of Conway and then bring him on later on.

  • I don't particularly rate Sene, but I don't think today was a good game to judge him on. He was brought on when they were camped in their box and basically had a man glued to him every time he had the

Putting aside the promotion permutations... It would be quite nice to just to win a game. Guess we'll find out if dropping to 3rd takes some pressure or makes everything worse.

Let's have it right. They have absolutely lost their head and bottled it in the past 6 weeks.

what a weird feeling knowing that we might likely dominate a game yet not come away winning.

People need to start stepping up and scoring these big chances, it’s as simple as that.

My worry is unless he rotates in Gilbert, Sene, Sarmiento our regular 11 will be too knackered by the time he gets to Ipswich anyway

I feel this could be a defining day in our season. The 3 games all offer banana skins for the 3 rivals. I think we have to win. If Ipswich fail to win it puts our fate back in our hands (albeit needing to beat Ipswich). Millwall this is arguably their toughest game left, dropped points and a win for us puts us ahead of them.

If we fail to win and both Millwall and Ipswich win, I feel we will need to switch the focus to the playoffs. The one benefit is we would not rush back the likes of Hackney and can allow them to be 'fresh' for the end of season. Hopefully this is not the outcome after today though.

Well I'm sick of seeing Conway on the left, he's simply not a wide player and doesn't have the ability/pace to cut inside on his right and get a shot off without it being blocked.

If the manager wants to play with a wide player then play a proper winger like Sarmiento.

We have been sussed out, time for a change of plan guys....

The only way Tommy conway is usable is as a second striker alongisde a proper striker. Or off the bench.

He is not a starter in this systemand one of our biggest weaknesses.

Because you offer teams far too many opportunities. The fact you're relying on last ditch blocks, challenges, tackles just showcases that the level of defending in the first place isn't great.

We created 5 Big Chances against you and 4 of them came in the first half in which we pretty much ripped you to shreds time and time again. Even your manager confirmed that. Going in at HT we should've put the game to bed....our poor finishing (which is a regular theme of us over the last month or so) cost us the victory and let you's back into the game.

'Boro (A) - 5 Big Chances conceded

Ipswich (A) - 2 Big Chances conceded

Blackburn (H) - 4 Big Chances conceded

Derby (H) - 2 Big Chances conceded

Hull (A) - 3 Big Chances conceded

These numbers aren't great and if that continues, then you're giving yourself a mountain to climb - or relying heavily on teams missing their chances...

As for Ayling. I have been quite vocal on both boards at being worried we've extended his contract when I don't believe we should have. He's been decent for us at times this season, but he has far too many big mistakes in him at big moments. Cov (A), Millwall (H) to name a few, and he's turning 35 soon and he's only going to get worse...

If you think gifting teams 3xG whilst only creating 0.7xG is sustainable in trying to achieve promotion, then good luck. We've seen on a regular basis, you can't outrun xG - Villa are a big example of this, this season...

And yet they are above us in the table.

As I've said to a few people xG doesn't matter. Scoring goals (and preventing them) does. Thats what get you the wins and the points...not a good xG.

All stats do are indicate trends and highlight strengths and weaknesses. Sometimes you can mitigate technical / tactical weaknesses through sheer graft and determination.

If Millwall can do that - more power to them. We seem unable to do anything about our main glaring weakness. While I hope we can, I'm not overly optimistic right now.

My enthusiasm for the season has been killed tbh. Ill watch this one with little emotion because I don't believe it matters much either way.

Good grief.

Yup, I’m in the same boat as you. Hopefully Millwall and Ipswich drop points before we kick off, but i feel very deflated now. First time this season I didn’t even know the kick off time

Same.

feel like now the pressure has been loosened slightly. We aren’t being chased by both Ipswich and willwall. We are now somewhat outsiders. That may benefit us? Less pressure on the players and we may be more clinical. Wishful thinking

You could always watch a Vera rerun instead Chor 👍

We genuinely need to start looking below us now, need to start picking up points. Our from has been terrible and we are only 5 points above 6th if Southampton win their game in hand
