  1. 1. What do you think the punishment should be?

    • A big fine
    • No fans at St Mary’s on Tuesday
    • A points deduction for next season
    • The game played at a neutral venue
    • Boro given a 3 goal first leg lead
    • Southampton removed from the playoffs entirely
    • No punishment, Tonda is innocent!

As dramatic as this situation is, we mustn't forget the most important point in all of this... This is very funny. English football thrown into chaos because one pillock with a sh*t haircut cou

As somebody who was just a little too young to understand the 3 points saga in 1997, from those who can remember, what was the feeling like before the decision? Was there a consensus that we were going to be deducted the points? that we would replay the fixture? that we would just brush it off? I can only imagine the chaos that would've been, had social media been around in those days!

My memory of it (keep in mind social media wasn't a thing back then the way it is today) was that there was some sort of flu epidemic sweeping the Club and we couldn't put out a full team let alone subs and faxed the information to the FA to say we couldn't fulfil the fixture.

It seemed a shame and frustrating but nothing more but of course there are various versions about the fax, the timing and it's acceptance. Then things started to get messy and of course because we were an unfashionable club they made an example of us, at least that was my feeling at the time. A phone call to say turn up or else probably would have meant that we would have had to play schoolboys and get thrashed 10-0 but would have kept the three points. Then of course they probably would have hauled our sorry backsides over the coals for fielding a weakened side and punished us. Damned if we did and damned if we didn't.

I had similar misgivings when Sheffield Utd went down because West Ham were playing Players that they shouldn't have but it was a toss up between a sh!tty Northern Town or the Hammers who won the World Cup dontcha know!

And all because they said Boro could have fielded a starting 11

With 3 of them being goalkeepers (from memory)

If nothing else, Gibbos clearly sh*t hot at creating a media sh*storm. Southamptons PR team getting dog-walked.

I really don't want to get my hopes up in case all this speculation is just that. 😬😰

soon as we did I remember thinking there is no way we get away with this even if we were telling the truth.

its a bit like this cheating where people are saying if you don't do something then anyone can do it and pay the cost.

if we never got punished, i would assume there would have been more instances where clubs might of bended the truth to allow certain players to return for certain games.

If I imagine its another club I think it was fair outcome, but if in context we were told one thing then they ruled another way that's harsh and shtty, they should of said this is not an option right from the start. But at the same time, anything we were told should have been given in writing if it gave us permission to do so.

Best possible outcome for me personally is it gets moved and we get reinstated and im able to go, given the final is currently when im away

You bribed Will Salt to spy on us didn’t you? That’s why Southampton are saying he did it without their knowledge. The lengths some people will go to just to watch the Boro at Wembley.

The one worry I have here is 'it's only Boro, no one else will care, and it will be forgotten about'. Not a single person backed us over the 3 points debacle.

In this case, I don't think we can appeal the decision. It's between the EFL and Southampton. We reported it but it's an EFL charge. If the EFL think the punishment is too weak or too harsh they can appeal but we cannot. Southampton can as the accused.

If we lose I guess Gibson will launch a civil case which will have financial penalties but no sporting sanction. I don't think a civil court case will have any bearing on the EFL. And the play off final will be done by then anyway

So in short, we need the commission to kick Southampton out and the appeal panel to agree if we are to have a shot at promotion this season.
