Powlay 35
The last fifa rules were 23 and under. 8.4 In line with the system that exists in the FA Premier League and the Nationwide League, players under 23 can move if a compensation fee is agreed between the two clubs. There is now a formulae for calculating this fee. The fee is dependent on his professional development and is seen as compensation for training. FIFA will agree a ceiling for this new 'training' fee, and this will apply to all countries in the EU and EEA. It is hoped that this will reduce the size of transfer fees; those players who are popular will still be able to negotiate their own personal terms and conditions. After the 23rd birthday, a player acquires some freedom to move to another club within the scope of his contract, which cannot be for more than 5 years. A player under 28 must not break his contract, however, without paying compensation to his current club, or having compensation paid by the new club. What is important is that these new rules make explicit reference to the requirements of national law, which prevents litigation, by calculating damages based on the fact that the contract had been completed. Prowler 197
When were these put into place? Got to be recent :S
Powlay 35
I think its a couple of years back now, i dunno im not a massive nerd you know. Pretty certain its U24, as Wheater would have walked for nothing at the end of this season has we not sold in January. Players 23 and under move abroad for free, but if they move inland as such its a compensation package (see Sturridge to Chelsea) or in man citys case, see the sturridge package and freak and pay a lot more than you actually offered because if it goes to tribuneral you get cained. FoggansFlyingPig 24
If Warnock wants Hoyte for QPR (hooray!) then maybe he can be persauded to take Boyd too - he has a track record of collecting lots of rubbish forwards in his squads.
VectorBoro 75
It is 23 or under hence why we would have received zilch if we had kept Wheater until the end of the season. That rule has been in place since the FA came up with the Academy compensation.

Powlay 35
New rumour, Oliver Norwood! Anyone heard of him? any good? I asked two of the beest man yoo tweeters and blogers regarding them. got this back so far Ajose - fast winger come forward, much improved finisher had an excellent loan at Bury this season scoring I think 13 goals. Not sure how he'd handle step up to Championship but think it would be a good test for him. James - I really like him central midfielder who's had a rotten year with injuries. Impressed during two loan spells at Preston. Good passer, great eye for a through ball, has a penchant for the odd spectacular striker - game style is similar to Carrick's but with a bit more dynamism maybe. Norwood - always had 'the next Beckham' tag because of free kick style. He's a CM, not a huge fan of his, IMO hasn't really progressed as expected but is a full Northern Ireland international. Good passer, on his day he can spray them about the pitch brilliantly, past 4 games have been excellent but they rather cloud the fact his season has been poor. Not a goalscorer at all, sits deep, needs good runners alongside him. In a 4-5-1 he'd be ok, think he'd be found out in a 4-4-2 though.
Baresi 7
Ajose sounds ok, but, going by those descriptions of the other two, they sound too similar to Smallwood and Thomson
thepassenger 16
I think we're already overloaded with centre mids, so unless we're going to get rid of a few I really can't see why we'd be looking at more
Guest SmogOnTheTyne
Seen Norwood play a few times in the Victory Shield, rated him, although we are heavy in the middle of the park.
Duckand 18
Daniel Jensen on a free? He has just been released by Werder Bremen for criticizing the managment. 31 years old and certainly in the mold of midfielders that mogga likes. Dare to dream? ^^
