richmfc 41
Powlay, sorry if weve gone through this else where but. how would you assess the U18s , they seem to winn some great games and then lose some daft ones, are these the next great hope or are we looking at the U16 for that. Powlay 35
U18 football isnt like football as the normal everyday fan understands it. The bigger clubs as expected have the better sides but regularly you see these getting battered scoreline wise by smaller sides. For example in the last 12 months Chelsea have lost 5-1 to Fulham, a side who Boro beat last season. And beat Norwich 5-1 a side whom beat us 5-0 this season. This happens because some sides take advantage of the rules which allow 3 third year players and a third year GK, where as others use the U18 side as a development team and play a lot of U16 players (chelsea played 19 U16 players last season at U18 level, a number which its believed is a record) Also at the U18 age players have not fully developed physically, so often you have a side of 6ft sprinters vs 5ft technical players. And its a level where often 1 player can make the difference. U16s to watch out for, oh thats a little...its hard. Lots of good kids dont make it, some average ones do. I wouldnt want to name someone and have a fan hype build up.
