tylergomez 53
I want 'Arry to get it. I also want whoever comes in next to trust the youngsters and be given time. I'd play similar to this. --------------Hart--------- Smalling--Jones---Cahill-----Baines Young--Wilshere-Cleverly--Johnson --------Rooney--Wellbeck----- I really like the look of this side, youth, energy and enthusiasm as well as a fair bit of skill. I would like to see Micah Richards regain the right back slot (if he continues to develop into the player he looked like he could become) then Smalling move over to partner Jones. I can also see Daniel Sturridge being the long term CF instead of Welbeck, though both have ability. With Rooney likely to de dropped from the next couple of friendlies I would love to see: Hart Richards - Smalling - Jones - Baines Parker Wilshere Cleverly Young Sturridge - Welbeck I know there are some fitness doubts over these players in coming months but would be great to see youth given a chance. You could always bring on Johnson for Parker and go flat midfield 4 instead of diamond too.
Prowler 197
-------------- Hart -------------- Richards - Cahill - Smalling - Baines --------- Parker - Jones ---------- --- Downing - Wilshere - Young --- ------------ Welbeck ------------- or -------------- Hart ------------ Richards - Cahill - Jones - Baines ------------- Parker ----------- ------ Cleverly - Wilshere ------ Sturridge ---------------- Young ------------ Welbeck ----------- Both teams have pace, both teams have youth, both teams have experience, both teams have technical ability. Guest CobraOne
Not a lot to say about the game really although shambles does spring to mind. After 20 mins I was bored and I tried for the life of me to see exactly what it was that Rooney was doing other than running around like a headless chicken (as usual). I honestly do not think that Rooney is an asset to England and I dont think I would pick him if I was the manager. With a 2 match ban at the Championships I also dont think he should be taken and we should take someone eligible to play all of the games.
CurtisFleming 86
I am still of the opinion that Pearce should get it. Im sorry prowler but this comment makes me disrespect your opinion forever -------------- Hart -------------- Richards - Cahill - Smalling - Baines --------- Parker - Jones ---------- --- Downing - Wilshere - Young --- ------------ Welbeck ------------- or -------------- Hart ------------ Richards - Cahill - Jones - Baines ------------- Parker ----------- ------ Cleverly - Wilshere ------ Sturridge ---------------- Young ------------ Welbeck ----------- Both teams have pace, both teams have youth, both teams have experience, both teams have technical ability. No Rooney? I honestly do not think that Rooney is an asset to England and I dont think I would pick him if I was the manager. Its a good job your not the manager then

No Rooney? No point if he's going to miss 2 games, if he only misses one, then take him but he needs a bit of discipline, it's not like we rely on him.
CurtisFleming 86
He is a knob at times but he's still our best player. So what if he is banned for 2 matches, If we get to the knockout stages we will need him.
Neverbefore 10,934
There's not a single player in the England team that isn't overrated... The players just aren't good enough, i don't know why everyones getting upset when they don't win everything. If you compare their position in world football with the premier league, England are the Aston Villas/Evertons. Always likely to challenge for the top 7/8 positions, but should never be expected to do any better.
CurtisFleming 86
Yeah I agree NB thats why I laugh when people say Sven was a failiure. He got to two quarter finals and was very unlucky not to go further.
Aarfy_Aardvark 38
England will do a Russia. Get hammered in the first match, win the next two convincingly but not amazingly. Then pull off a huge shock by beating in a big team in the quarters only to then go out limply in the semis to the Germans. The press restores their faith in the team and the whole cycle of 'England are the best' bull*** continues until we are held at home by Poland. And the whole cycle begins again. Guest Noddy1989
This is why we need to get the youth through now. I think the likes of Wilshere/Cleverly/Jones/Smalling/Young/Wellbeck need to get used to playing together. They're not the biggest of players, in the sense most of them are technically gifted rather than battlers but I think we need to do it now rather than in 4 years. Look at Germany, they brought in a young team to the World Cup and pretty much upset the odds everytime they went out and played. They were skillful, fast, fluent, lethal in front of goal and just completely solid throughout the tournament. I know they were never really going to win it, but by the next WC they'll have a real chance of taking it. All because the young players from last tournament will have matured, got even better and have the tournament experience to take it all the way next time, that and with Spain starting to get an aged team I'd be surprised if Germany don't win in 2014. I reckon we have a great chance at some point in the next decade. I think the crop of players coming through all have potential to be world beaters. I think when you look at the likes of Wilshere and Cleverly, you can say they have the potential to be better than Lampard and Gerrard (especially together). Same with the wingers, with Young, Johnson and Wallcott all still pretty young but have potential to be incredible (I'd say Young already is though). Jones in my opinion is the most talented CB we've had coming through in my lifetime. I just really hope all these players start getting into the team and cement their positions soon. Otherwise it'll be another 10 years of disappointment. I'm also of the opinion that the FA completely need to rework the youth setup in this country, playing 11 a side at 11 years old is completely pointless. At that age it basically means whoever has the faster players wins with route one football. We need to delay the advancement to 11 a side until u14/u15 level. That way players can advance the technical side of their game more.

CurtisFleming 86
Yeah cashley is still a class act but he's gettin on now
Guest Noddy1989
Cole was the only player who turned up at the last WC though, probably the only World Class player we've had in the past 5/6 years at Tournaments as Rooney is the only other hope we've had and he's yet to turn up since 2004. Linthorpian2011 6
I honestly think we can do WITHOUT them.Cast your minds back to South Africa. As Jim Royle says"Golden generation my ***".We have till next year.Get shot of the has beens except for Beckham threading the inch perfect pass to Ashley Young or Oxy.Chamerlain. Make Scott Parker captain with Rodwell & Wilshire next to him in midfield.Keep Hart. Richards,Cahill, Jones & Baines with Smalling as back up. Hey may not get to semi's,but I bet they could put on a better show than Lumphard & co.
CurtisFleming 86
So just to make sure I'm reading that right your saying drop Ashley Cole and play David Beckham?
