Because I find the word Nazi offensive as many others do - thats why!

I have been a student, I worked my behind off working 30 hours a week while studying to obtain my qualifications. I have no problem with people being students, I have a problem with people wanting things they can't afford so don't try and twist my words! Believe me when I say I am not rich. I don't (yet) own my own home, I can't afford Sky TV, I drive a car that has a heater that doesn't work because I can't afford to repair it. I choose to feed myself, my son and my partner as a priority rather than luxuries. I work 38 hours a week in my normal job, then I film football at the weekends for extra income. Its not people like me you need to worry about - I just wish everyone (including you as a student you are bettering yourself) would work for what they want, not expect it on a plate)

Also you clearly have little to no understanding of dyslexia if you think its only about spelling. My partner is dyslexic and has no trouble with spelling, in fact she has two degrees and has much better English and language skills than me. That is not an argument!

Lazurus you are missing the point - he is not using his head - he is committing fraud (however minor in your opinion) and that in this great country is illegal. That is my point.

Also thanks for you apology.

I associate Nazi with murdering, genocidal idiots - not people who may have been a little childish in pointing out English errors on an internet forum. So I also offer an olive branch for being part of the spelling police - oh hang on that might offend some people as it appears that the police are not very good at catching people for doing things wrong. Damn that might offend some of the police who are actually good at their job! Oh I can't win!

why not bring class into nthis, theres only one way this country is heading and that is of an elitist society. the rich continue to get richer and the poorer get poorer, if he can't afford to go full price and he can get away with paying a lower price, it's in his interest to do so, meanng he has more money to spend on other things such as basics AND have a decent quality of life to be able to enjoy things people with more money can, so basically what you are arguing is that only people that have money should be allowed to enjoy expieriences than someone who doesn't. don't you think thats very elitist and somewhat arrogant.

You are missing my point. I am arguing that what he is doing is fraud and therefore to the laws of this land Illegal.

If you read my previous post you will see that I am not elitist or arrogant and work for everything that I have. I have been to Uni, I have been in the Army and I currently work two jobs to afford me a lifestyle that is still short of the one that I would desire.

In my opinion which I believe (correct me if I am wrong) I am freely allowed to express, is that what he is doing is wrong.

I will admit to have being brought up with a middle class back ground. My parents were both born to working class families and worked for what they gained. I will also add that I have never been given a foot up financially. I paid my own way through Uni after an army career, I bought my own first car, paid for all my own driving lessons and have saved for the last 8 years to have a deposit to hopefully this year buy a house. I am working for what hopefully in a few years time will be a comfortable life. If that is elitist or arrogant - then I OK. I am proud of what I am achieving!

i was more making a point of powlay who has really peeved me off with this, i see where your coming from that it is illegal but if it means a better quality of life for him then something so minor shouldnt really be causing such a stir. i find it really annoying when people state that people without money should be denied things that the rich can, and no i'm not communist just fed up with this governments attitude of "they'll be alright" when infact many people aren't they have no idea what it's like to live in a working class town. more of a political point i know but i couldnt help myself being a politics student so sorry for the rant. suppose i could link it back by saying that it's people like powlay that don't clearly have no idea what it's like and that sometimes you have to bend the rules slightly to able to have a decent quality of life. however like it has been said if you get caught you can't have any complaints.

I think your last comments about quality of life are important and I agree with you entirely, but I disagree with you about the best way to go about it.

You have to question the reason for asking the question - but he can do what he likes its up to him.

But as you say, if caught he has to deal with the consequences.

The football club I do media work for asks if you look close to the age (18) in their case you have to prove you are below (photo ID) 18 to get your concession entry. One daft lad two weeks ago bought himself in as a concession and then proceeded straight to buy a pint. Some people really are stupid. He was escorted from the ground as you would expect

At least this sparking a debate, but its clear that with this issue that peoples morals are getting in the way here, how would you feel if the club decide to offer people who are on benefits/lower incomes cheaper tickets to games or season tickets at prices which are based on income? Not saying I would agree with this but then surely this would help people come to the matches and help boost the clubs image in the community

Let's say a season ticket is 300 but if you household income is under 15,000 you can purchase a ticket at the reduced cost of 250. Yet if you have a high household income you would pay 325, would this ever be a workable model in football?

That is an interesting point and hard to police and open to more people blagging the system.

I think more needs to be done to help people on lower incomes support their teams.

Some employers offer season ticket loans that help. Having never bought a season ticket I don't know if its possible to spread the cost. The club should offer a 12 month payment deal for season tickets, interest free, so you pay say £30 a month to see your team play. That might mean 3 games a month for £30 - that's a pretty good deal! Obviously you would have 2/3 months a year with no football, but at least it spreads the cost!

The benefits one is an interesting one, and I think placing time limits on it would be appropriate to make it fair. I have been made redundant so being jobless is not always a choice. Being unemployed for 12 years is though! Let me make it clear I have no problem with people on unemployment benefits - just the people who won't work because our government gives them a free comfortable life!

How about for the 1st year of unemployment you receive a concession rate for tickets, after that you lose the entitlement?

Glad to see that restraint has come back to this thread however as the topic is way off in terms of the open Boro forum I will get this thread moved to the football forum as it seems that members still want to contribute to this now none related football thread

The club could also introduce a scheme which allows you pay the cost of your season ticket at monthly rates then you can pause and stop the payments when needed but then your season tickets gets a block places on it, Never been unemployed but knowing people that have they seem to lose the social side of life very quickly so cheap/discounted football tickets could be seen as a way to keep the social side of life positive for them, which can in turn help them feel valued and help with the job hunt! How would people feel if lower income households started to get discounted prices, or would you have a set area of seating for people on this scheme! When it came to policing the scheme I think it could be done on you apply and the send proof of earnings!

I would say this is very Boro related in this thread as its always highlighted about the clubs poor/low turn outs on a Saturday is down to the economic downturn in the area!

Its a shame there are no restricted views at riverside (unless you sit behind a giant) then those seats could be used.

I personally would have no problem with reduced or subsidised tickets as is the case for students and OAPs. Its not dissimilar.

The problem would be the people who already take the tax system for a ride as they are unemployed (we all know that SOME do it but not all) who would then get in cheaper though turn up in a brand new BMW!

Of course people who have money should be allowed to enjoy experiences that someone who doesnt have money cant.

I dont expect to be able to buy a Porsche for a fraction of the price someone who has more finances available can?

I dont go into a shop and expect to pay less for a bottle of wine than the person in front of me does (unless i use something that enables me to, be is a voucher or being a member of a wine club etc)

I dont change the price labels on a pair of shoes so i can afford to buy a pair i like over a pair im not keep on.

I dare say the majority of people dont either, doesnt make the majority of people elitist.

A ticket for a football match isnt about having the basics is it? Its not really about having a decent quality of life either.

Ive openly said, i will happily meet said person and make sure he has the £ to pay for an adult ticket rathr than sneak in with a childs ticket that he isnt elibgable for. Im not being elitist in anyway.

Just felt it was for the best as I know this was not finished but at the same time could possibly have gone in the wrong direction if left on the open forum.:)

Can I just point out again to everybody on here I generally thought the internet term for people who comment on spelling mistakes as spelling nazis, its not its spelling police,it was an honest mistake and feel a bit bad about it.I never understood why the term I thought it was,was banded about so freely.I don't frequent internet forums chatrooms etc.I've been pulled up on here before for making a joke about Jewish/German history and got slated when I meant it as jest and not through any sort of sick perverse opinions I have I'm not sat here in an SS uniform watching a documentary about Hitler.obviously people take great offence to it even though my comments are meant to be more tongue in cheek and not hurtful.ok.soz again.

i expected this comeback, so predictable. my point was if he spends the money he's saving on basics then he can afford to come to the footy, improving the quality of life as he'll have a leisure activity to do.

not saying we should pay different prices for wine or anything like that, twisting my words. what is elitist is saying that people with money deserve more than people that don't, if he can make it to the footy by using this method to be able to get there then good for him. at least he's trying to get out and enjoy himself.

yeah, 'spelling nazi' or 'grammar nazi' are commonly used phrases on the internet, they are just used to describe someone who is nazi-like in their oppression/punishment of simple/accidental spelling/grammar mistakes. they aren't designed to imply any other aspects of nazi ideology.
