RiseAgainst 3,781
I'm a bit behind the times, but I've just read the letter Arsenal supporters have written, wanting Emery out. I particularly liked the line: "The last decade, notwithstanding the FA Cup wins, can legitimately be seen as lost years, both on and off the field, when the team has not only stagnated but actually regressed." Imagine 'only' having won the FA Cup three times in this decade. The poor lambs. And we thought our team was toiling up a steep incline. 2

Wenger won 3 FA Cups in his final 4 years and they were calling for his head the whole time. Man Utd sacked van Gaal about 20 minutes after he'd won them the FA Cup. I'd give my left bollock to see Middlesbrough lift the FA Cup just once in my lifetime.
Changing Times 12,220
I suppose if you go from winning or at least challenging for titles to being some distance away then it will feel like that. I think part of their gripe is that the new stadium was supposed to lead to them being able to compete with everyone and that hasn't been the case. I believe they've also been paying the highest ticket prices going at the same time? I think their issue is more with the owner than any of the managers as such.

They've gone from being yearly contenders to just another team battling for a top-6 spot. Even a CL spot is beginning to look unrealistic for them. They've been raking in massive amounts of money and paid back the stadium in record time, yet they've been left behind partly due to rubbish decisions in the transfermarket to the point where they couldn't buy players due to cash flow restictions. Özil on 350k a week is just plain crazy. They don't recruit well at all. And there was more to Wenger than "just" winning the occasional FA Cup. Their fans a right to demand more. Wenger was extremely stubborn in his final years and should have gone a few years earlier. Their season tickets cost between 891-1768 pounds. When you are paying that amount of money to watch football you have every right to demand more from your club than just making up the numbers and winning a domestic cup.

But they're a "big London club" and Boro are just a small town in the North East. 😉 In all seriousness, after what they achieved under Wenger, (barring the last couple of seasons), I think they're entitled to be unhappy at the direction the club has gone. Especially given how much they've spent on players (and the new stadium) in that time. EDIT: breaking news...its been confirmed Emery has "left" Arsenal. Wonder who the replacement will be? Wonder if Poch fancies another job in London? Edited November 29, 2019 by AnglianRed

He's been put on trial THREE TIMES now and acquitted (or a least not found guilty) each time. Yet the claim of manslaughter against the 96 was upheld. What's wrong with this picture? I dunno...there was a certain inevitability about it, the longer Arsenal's poor form continued. There have been more ridiculous sackings IMO (Pochettino, for instance). He hasn't delivered and they are playing some very naive football. I haven't talked to a single Arsenal fan or read a forum where they have been happy about his management. It's the correct decision. I hope they appoint Poch. He owes Spurs nothing after that sacking.
wilsoncgp 9,230
I wouldn't call it ridiculous, not terribly sure it's the correct decision but they do seem to have fallen behind any progress they made last year. Even considering his goals, I don't think they've got anywhere near the best out of their big money signing and it just seemed to be getting worse.
