Think they think they can sign Pereira for 15mil from West brom. I don't think there's a huge gap between those two players so that the extra 15mil plus on another area they need to strengthen... I think there's some logic in it

Yea - I can see that. I guess West Brom are in a much poorer negotiating position - but they will probably try to hold out for more now, now they know Norwich have money and a bigger need.

Their is a fascinating article about the Boro in today’s Athletic... Nine championship games in 29 days.  Following a team in their maddest run ever.    Neil Warnock was on the pit

Centuries ago Villages had ducking stools whereby if the person drowned they were innocent and if they lived they were guilty and sentenced to death. Nowadays not much has changed sadly. Idiots postin

Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers. I probably shouldn’t have made things public, but I was at as very low ebb. It’s been a difficult year, not made better by COVID. Lockdown bucket lists aren’t

I wouldn’t be happy if I was a Norwich fan though! He’s got three years left on contract, so no immediate need to sell unless they are totally skint. Thought they might be more ambitious this time - you can understand them selling the first time they came up, but they should have a bit more money this time. Have to see if they spend it on reinforcing other areas, but seems as though they are preparing for another relegation.

Yeah as a Norwich fan I'd understandly be a bit peeved off. But as a neutral and looking at it objectively I can see the logic in it. Think Webber has said as much that they don't need to sell any players especially after their promotion last time and who they sold last summer. But equally they aren't afraid to sell if the offer matches their own valuation, and to be fair they have a decent track record of selling key players and replacing them. They have also said that they have a £30m Covid related hole they want to fill, which originally they had planned to use PL money to cover that.

In terms of a recruitment side so far they've just spent about £15m on signing Gibson and the Greek leftback (as options in both loan deals) plus they'll probably be able to get a suitable replacement for Buendia with the other £15m, of his £30m fee, I think Peiria at WBA has been linked.

I'd expect serious questions to be asked if they didn't at least get close to staying up this time round, as this is a bit more on their "schedule". But I don't think they'll spend heavily as I just don't think they think that way anymore.

I think the plan is progression through sustainability. Coming back down isn't on the agenda but if it happens they will be both financially stronger and have an even better squad meaning that they should go straight back up and keep building on solid foundations.

"Soild foundations"..................why does that give me that Homer and Gummy Bears feeling?

Perhaps they were able to keep him for the season just gone by promising to sell him this summer whatever happened to them?  I was surprised he was at Norwich last season, and they must have had clubs in for him last summer.

It's why I still am absolutely in favour of VAR as it stands. Especially in the biggest games. It isn't perfect by any means but I still look back on moments like Navarro's foul on Viduka in the UEFA Cup Final and wonder what could have been if we'd had VAR around back then. I'm sure throughout history there are injustices that fans of all clubs would look back on and wonder about where the difference between the right and wrong decision could be huge.

This study which was published last year shows the overall positive effect it's had when it's used. It shouldn't really come as a surprise but VAR helps officials make the correct decisions more often. Yeah, if we can't implement it at every domestic level in the EFL, that's fine. But the playoffs should have them involved, if not in the semis then definitely in the finals.

Interesting read. I'm so used to using taylor and francis for uni work, never thought I'd be on there outside of that lol

Seems a more promising appointment than Michael Appleton, to be fair. He got Huddersfield promoted and kept them up once and they didn't exactly have the best squad around either, looking through the squad from the year they stayed up and it's a team full of bog standard Championship players.

Sounds like David Wagner is going to West Brom, encouragingly rubbish appointment.

I mean he did an incredible job with Huddersfield with pennies to work with, they played us off the park in our promotion season and the squad he had to work with was awful. After Mooy and Billing you're legitimately hard pressed to find another top half championship caliber player.

We beat them 2-0 and 3-0 in our promotion season.

He's the only manager to ever get a team promoted from the Championship with a negative goal difference and won the play-offs without one of their players scoring a goal.

He clearly did well to get them promoted, as it was a surprise, but they certainly weren't good.

They then stayed up by the skin of their teeth in the first season and stank out the division in the second.

He then did an awful job at Schalke.

They can still play us off the park when losing. Was a typical Karanka game, low possession, few chances. Clayton managed to score after about 3 deflections.

Mate that team had little right to a top half finish, let alone winning the playoffs, let alone managing to survive in the prem. A poor manager would have seen them crash and burn like Derby.

Since sacking him at the beginning of this season Schalke won 3 of their next 32 games and finished rock bottom. Safe to say Wagner was not the biggest problem there.

This is quite interesting. Seems Norwich announced a different betting company as their new shirt sponsor, fans found their instagram to basically be softcore porn & they have now cut ties and will try again.

Honestly, you'd think they'd at least do a *little* bit of research before signing off on a multimillion pound deal.

It's not like it's exactly hard to find, either.

Exactly. Being in the prem again they can afford to do that too, they don't need to just pick up any sponsor that throws money at them

I'm always happy to see any gambling company being kicked off replica shirts, but weren't BK8 working to remove historic offensive social media posts earlier this week, at the request of Norwich? Sounds like things have deteriorated pretty quickly between club and sponsor for this to happen.
