Derby could have their league status removed if they can’t prove they have funds to finish the season.

I have been speaking to someone I know at the club and they say it’s a very real possibility.

The administrators seem to be in limbo over a preferred bidder due to the court threats and HMRC. The EFL are also supposed to be loosing patience with everything.

The limbo the administrators are in is because for the last 2 months they have a preferred bidder just waiting who is willing to put in a bid and get them out of administration.

Unfortunately for the administrators they have to deal with HMRC who are not happy that they are not classed as being as important as a footballing debt is to the EFL, so they are threatening to be blooming awkward about things legally through the courts.

The various groups of bidders have a valuation of their bids based upon assets and limitations and have indicated to the administrators what they are, unfortunately the fact that the administrators have a club that doesn’t own its own ground, the owner is the ex chairman who’s slight of hands in valuations and deals has got them here in the first place. Rumours are he is willing to sell the ground for £20m but that’s a deal the new owners would have to sort themselves.

That very valuation issue is also a millstone as in order to try and push a sale the administrators have accepted punishment from the EFL for various transgressions, by doing so they have left the club and any new owners open to further issues with the EFL at a later date.

Boro and Wycombe have issues with Derby football club and based on the administrators agreeing to EFL punishments have technically admitted guilt to certain actions. As members of the EFL clubs are not allowed to sue each other directly for certain issues, they are expected to go through an arbitration system with the EFL as judge and jury with no right of appeal. Any new owners face the prospect of Boro and Wycombe triggering this and the EFL agreeing with them and hitting them with further penalties, this is why the administrators are trying to put the pressure on Boro and Wycombe to put up or shut up.

As things stand neither club has actually asked the EFL to start this process officially, also outside of all these parties no one knows exactly what these issues actually are or could be. This is why yesterday Derby fans had been told earlier in the week by their manager that after the meeting with the EFL that they would know who their preferred bidder was, that they wouldn’t sell players off cheaply, and he was being kept in the loop as were the players and everything was fine and the EFL was going to rubber stamp this on Thursday at their meeting.

Sadly if your a Ram, by Thursday night you found out that the EFL had formally demanded that the administrators furnish them with exactly how they were going to fund the club to finish the season, they also implied that they had asked this repeatedly of the administrators since December so that they could determine if the club was able to pay all footballing creditors and finish the season. The administrators haven’t done this as their plan is that the preferred bidder would loan the club the money to cover this while they bought the club, and that the EFL should ignore any complaints by other clubs and let them sell Derby and the new owners could deal with that at a later date.

Well as we all know the EFL are always minded to consider themselves first and have acted accordingly, they have publicly demanded the administrators give them the proof they want, to force this have slapped a ban on and incomings, and said they cannot act on any intra club disagreements as non of the parties have formally asked them to do this.

So on Friday morning Mr Rooney and his squad were formally brought up to speed on events, they were told that mr Rooney could not block any sales that came in for players, he could not buy any new players and any players that wished to leave should let the administrators know directly so they can action any bids that come in a tout any potential sales.

This dripped through all day yesterday and the first casualty was Phil Jagiaelka who’s contract ran out on Monday and Rooney and the club board had agreed a new 18 month deal. This wasn’t going to happen so he has left and looks to be joining Stoke.

At 5 pm the administrators released another statement that basically said the EFL was breaking its own laws, that Boro and Wycombe had no case against them so should jog on and that they had 3 potential bidders ready if only the EFL and the evil Steve Gibson would accept them doing what they wanted.

In a months time this case will be further forward but feelings towards Boro and Steve Gibson especially are very very high and various calls to arms have been sounded on their forums, from protests outside the ground, prophesies of damage seats and concourses and legal notices sent against the EFL and Boro, they view Wycombe as small irrelevant and not worthy of concern as they are the mighty Derby County founder members of the football league.

Now he going to have to nail his colours to the mast. He not experienced as a manager so imo he won’t get asked, but if he did ... well I wonder if the statues that some fans of County want built of him would be metaphorically torn down.

According to fans and media Rooney is on a £5m contract, ( not sure if that’s the full deal worth or per year) I just remember it was a huge massive contract at the time and there were rumours and insinuations made about it at the time.

Absolutely no issue if they get promoted next season, but I'll be very angry if they stay up this year.
