Our only chance is a top drawer performance from Randolph and a big Shane Duffy header in the last second of the game

Duffy is one of the main reasons why Andreas Cornelius was rested on Friday so he can play 90 mins tonight. Big guy that can handle Duffy. Duffy is definately my main worry.

It's being reported that Tony Pulis turned down the Cardiff job as he is hopeful of getting either the job at Southampton or West Ham. Apparently he does not want to manage in the Championship anymore and sees himself at Premier league level. Tbf he is probably correct in reflecting on what we have said previously, he is much better at setting teams up not to lose (PL survival) than to win games (Championship promotion).

Leeds have opened a development centre for youngsters in Middlesbrough, hoping to find some quality.

There's also an interesting discussion going on in the comments on the Gazette live Facebook page, apparently Boro have gotten rid of a lot of their scouts and said in a letter to them that they are moving in a "different direction".

Given our current situation, I think we should be casting our net far and wide for bargains, not limiting ourselves with smaller numbers of scouts.

There are people also saying that other teams watch the TJFA but Boro don't even have a scout at games, which could obviously be wrong but you do wonder why Leeds would be setting up a development centre if we were snapping up all the best young talent in the area.

'Going in a different direction' could just mean 'going down the cheaper route'.

I would be staggered if he ended up at West Ham.  Even Southampton seems a stretch, given their particular way of doing things but I suppose they could get so desperate that they forget about all of that.

I know they've been bad lately but that surprised me.

Gone before Ole or Emery too.

    • I think you have to let the players contract run out to offer them a lower wage and we can’t match there current contract now because we don’t know what league we will be in.
    • I actually thought he was more at fault for the first goal. Should’ve pushed it out instead of straight back at Ayew. Cack defending in the build up too. second goal looked poor but Ayew was afforded the freedom of the box and pretty much an open goal to smash it at.  Third was one of those awkward ones where it’s right under you so you can’t get down quickly enough. on the up side, lovely drilled finish from tavernier
    • Boro considering a loan move for Ben Gibson in Jan according to the Sunday Mirror
    • To be fair I have heard that Mejias isn't that bothered about trying to force his way into the team and is happy to just train and pick up a paycheck. Not the sort of player we should have on our books really if you ask me. Just another example of the club wasting money.
    • I'm guessing Pears was performing much better in training, as I don't think it makes any sense if the club brought him back from Cyprus just to be 3rd choice, he was almost definitely meant to be 2nd choice behind Randolph at the start of the season. Goalkeeping is the least of our worries on the pitch right now though. We cannot defend to save our lives.
