Interesting that Rick Parry was filmed discussing there's allegedly a huge bet that has been made in the Phillipines for Wigan to be relegated. Perhaps Gibson should have done it with our transfer fees this season we'd be as wealthy as most premier league clubs.

Browne scored a class goal for Oxford he'll certainly has to be able to do a better job than Johnson next season

Well considering Johnson has spent most of his time at left back, I wouldn't like to see Browne playing there.

Charlton look so much better than us.

Funny old game.

They're one of the few sides we've played this season that have looked significantly worse than us on both occasions.

My local team have been allowed to sell 8300 tickets for the upcoming clash which is about a third of the capacity. Likewise at most other grounds that have the right security. There are sectors of 500 people and a one meter distance between people. No food sales. Only drinks. Really looking forward to it. Hope people can behave and follow the rules so we can keep it going and even open up completely for the coming season. I’ll live with this arrangement for some time though.

Maybe I'm being a bit critical but I think Browne has been given all the time and space he wanted for that goal, nobody challenged him or closed him down, just backed off and let him have a go. I think the keeper could do better too. Still, good on him, I hope he's been making the most of this chance at Oxford. Who knows, he might even be with Oxford in the Championship next year with us in League One. 😱

Charlton lost, which suits us.  Need 3 points to go ahead of them, though.

Just been reading a Sheff Wed forum there and between spitting bile about Steve Gibson, one of the posters mentioned that one of Wigan's administrators said on the radio that another club in the Championship is close to filing for administration.

No idea if that's true, or which radio channel he said it on, but that could be interesting.

Sheff Wed failing to pay all their players this month, and releasing high earners, it could even be them.

Wait, why would they be spitting bile about Gibson? Take a week off and you miss everything haha!

It's because he always calls them Sheffield Thursday and then giggles.

I think it's because of his complaints to the EFL and all that stuff.

So today sees most of our relegation competition in action here’s  the best possible outcomes for us

Stoke v Barnsley.  Barnsley  win or a draw

Luton v Reading. Reading win or draw

Huddersfield v PNE Preston win

Sunday

Boro v QPR Boro win (by 17 clear goals)
WBA V Hull. Baggies win

Also I know they’re not in our relegation battle but

Blackburn v Leeds Blackburn win and the Leeds team bus enters a Yorkshire version of the Bermuda Triangle and disappears only to be found at the end of the season on a South Pacific island 👍

    • So far he got a move to one of the worlds biggest clubs at a very young age, didn't make a breakthrough and has been around. At 24 years old Birmingham in the Championship is his 9th club. At that age Ravel had "only" been at 7 clubs. Since may 2016 he's had one sub appearance for Croatia in a friendly. The kid has talent, but it looks like he has gone massively backwards and can't live up to his hype, which is probably why he has never been able to hold down a place at a club and has now signed for a championship team on a free transfer. So yeah, I do see a lot of similarities. Maybe not in their personalities but professionaly.
    • Listen let’s not beat about the bush here because this IS the defining game that will tell us more about the squad, and NW then any game to-date, period.  Many posters have previously stated we done well against teams around the top, and there is no denying we did take points raising optimism and predictions about playoffs. The playoffs and I think one or two dared predict a top two finish, or was I dreaming, anyway these were based on BORO beating lesser teams. Now here they come because there is no lesser team then Derby. I’ll say it others won’t. Anything but a win should be seen as abstract failure, period. No excuses, no talk about the referee, weather, subs, set up, NW, weather, just a failure and a huge question mark about our future.    I expect a win, I expect us to bounce back from a horrific unforgettable previous game, I expect the players to prove, express themselves, I expect energy and pace, I expect a lot of players to get the monkey off there back, I expect smiling faces at full time.    A win is expected, a win it has to be!
    • Indeed - that was just a trial to see how clubs would manage social distancing during matches. I'm fairly certain the club would not have made anything even close to a profit on that. Just pulling a number out of the air here, but I'd expect they'd need the ground to be at least half full to see any money after matchday costs are accounted for (stewards, policing and other ground / concourse staff). Might just break even at a third full. But quite honestly 2,000 fans isn't going to be much different from the trial. If anything the club might actually lose more than from having a closed stadium. That said, its a necessary "baby step" towards getting football back to normal. Gives staff the chance to get used to policing social distancing rules and fans the chance to get used to attending matches in a socially responsible way (hopefully). It has to be done this way because there are still too many idiots out there ignoring the rules and causing numbers to spike - even during lockdown (two major outbreaks just announced in Kent).
    • I don’t think clubs are allowed to offer players new contracts on reduced term. I think that’s why we needed to wait for players contracts to run out in the past before offering them new ones.
