Your experience as a fan of a club that came perilously close to going out of business itself.  Maybe you wouldn't have been all that bothered about it, I really don't know.

It meant we got rid of Charlie Amer and what ensued has been the most successful era of Boro's history.

Their is a fascinating article about the Boro in today’s Athletic... Nine championship games in 29 days.  Following a team in their maddest run ever.    Neil Warnock was on the pit

Centuries ago Villages had ducking stools whereby if the person drowned they were innocent and if they lived they were guilty and sentenced to death. Nowadays not much has changed sadly. Idiots postin

Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers. I probably shouldn’t have made things public, but I was at as very low ebb. It’s been a difficult year, not made better by COVID. Lockdown bucket lists aren’t

Calling people idiots or stating they need to grow up doesn't win any argument and quite frankly it's uncalled for on here, it isn't FMTTM

Well said.

I dunno why but we've got a few people on here who have free reign to insult people. When its a new member they get banned for it.

But you didn't know that at the time, did you?  It worked out well for us, it hasn't worked out well for a number of other clubs though.  Assuming you were a fan back then, I take it you weren't that fussed if the club went under or not?  I find that bizarre if that's the case. It's pretty simple to me, if it was Boro in that situation then I'd be concerned about it, and to use your rating system, it would be a lot more than 5/10 for me so why then wouldn't you be sympathetic to another club in that same situation?  DS said it, there but for the grace of god.

Fortunately thanks to SG and the others at the time we will never know but others like Chester, Airdrie, Darlo, Halifax, Gateshead, Coventry, Accrington, Wimbledon, Scarborough, Leeds and Glasgow Rangers managed to salvage something and come back from Administration, winding up or going bust. Even Chelsea were on the brink before Ken Bates bought them for a quid or something, it's fair to say that they haven't done too badly since.

Half of those clubs are non-league and below where they were when they got into trouble.  Coventry took years to get back to our level and back into their own ground.  Wimbledon still aren't back at that level.  And those are what you view as success stories! 🙂

You're right and I apologise.  It's wrong to call people idiots who don't care about others.  There are much better words for it 👍

As someone who remembers 1986 vividly, I would not want to have seen us go under and have to fight our way back up, for every success, there are two or three examples of failure (so far)

In the National League North, there is Gateshead, York, Chester, Darlington, Bradford Park Avenue, Southport, Hereford and Kidderminster.. there are about a dozen former league clubs in the National League...  Barrow have just made it back after fifty years of struggling..  there are no guarantees that  Derby are even going to be relegated and according to liquidators they are 95% certain of staying in business, so stories about them going to the wall need to be taken with a good helping of salt at the moment..  If they have to live the life of Sunderland for a season or two, then it won't be a new experience for many of their fans and unless they do get another deduction, it is very possible that they will stay up, so to all intents and purposes, they would have got away with it, so is that fair on Wycombe, Rotherham and other clubs that played it straight ...  sooner or later, some chancer will try it again unless it is made crystal clear that if you cheat, then sooner rather than later, you will pay the consequences.

Who mentioned "success stories" I certainly haven't used that word?

Like Boro those Clubs came back from the dead and still exist in one form or another, whether that is a success is down to personal opinion. In Boro's case I'd say it was, likewise Chelsea, Rangers and Leeds are free from their original baggage.  Portsmouth and Bolton fans are probably lamenting their demise and decline but they still have an entity to support. No Club has a right to stay in the Premiership or Championship or at any other level.

Like I said before, my sympathies are with the likes of Wycombe and Rotherham who were robbed and cheated.

So caring for Wycombe and Rotherham (and ourselves for being cheated out of a Play Off spot) over and above Derby is not caring? Carry on name calling or better still get yourself a season card for Pride Park if you feel that emotional and supportive for their current plight.
