Not sure if it's accurate since it's since came out that they're giving him the Wolves game.

Neverbefore 13,108 27.7k
Never seen a game with a more likely sacking after it than West ham vs wolves. Which one is the question. Will be happy to see Gary o Neil's smug mug canned
Hammy legend 1,101 1.2k
I don't like West Ham but haven't forgiven Wolves for knocking us out of the Cup quarter final in 1981. Also, to sell Morrison and pay 3 times as much for O'Neil was one of our worst deals. Wolves to lose and O'Neil a P45 for me.

Old Codger 3,731 4.4k
United's problem is that in the past, they had one of the best academy/youth system in the UK and rarely fielded a team that wasn't predominately home grown and regarded themselves as equals in the respect they had all come through the system. Since the arrival of the Glazers, it seems as though that philosophy has gone and they are incessantly linked to whoever is flavour of the month in Europe. Players seem to be bought and sold for the sake of it and any good players that come through the system, like McTominay, are being sold. Has it reached the stage where commercial success has become more important than on the field results?

Has it reached the stage where commercial success has become more important than on the field results? Homegrown players are worth more to teams aren't they if they're sold vs. players they've brought in. It's why there was such a transfer-fest earlier this summer of teams essentially swapping young players for ridiculous sums of money. But it's also come as a necessity for some teams - when you buy someone like Casemiro and pay them the amount you do, good luck getting any return on it. Those types of signings have to be for the success of here and now. United either don't see that or they seem to stupidly think they're one or two experienced quality players from becoming a success the next season. It's baffling.
