The never ending speculation story

I have noticed something with Bailey, when he plays central, we tend to end up playing too deep. Now, I like Bailey and I was one of the ones calling him for him to play more advanced but I also consigned myself to losing him back in the summer. If Mowbray can use his wages to bring in some attacking quality that helps us in our push for promotion, then so be it.

Thomson never plays and is surely on higher wages than bailey? keep bailey dispose of thomson and continue to use bailey in the away game seeing as how it seems to be working with current form

And yes i realise that no one in their right mind would want to take thomson haha.

As far as saleable assets are concerned, Bailey is one, Thomson is not!

I would be very happy to move Thomson on, but no one is going to risk the money on his recent injury record.

Agreed Prowls, I like Bailey but wouldn't be too concerned if he was sold

McManus and Bailey will be gone in January.

The club will look at the loan market as a priority rather than buying a player.

I thought McManus had a serious injury and would not play again this season. Surely Bristol will not sign him on January on that basis. Or am I dreaming this injury up?

His injury is not as bad as they first thought and he will only be out for 5-6 weeks rather than 6 months. He is still at Bristol City recovering from his injury.

I like thomson when he plays, i also really like bailey but given the choice between keeping one of them i would choose bailey every single time so why on earth is mogga looking to get rid of him?

Thompson's a standard player but having to chose who to keep i'd stick with Bailey, a strong CM/CDM can't go wrong with and fits in well with the swap of Leadbitter.

Bailey is not a Mowbray type of player that's why he wants to move him on and Rhys can slot back into midfield when he is back and leave Woodgate/Hines and Bikey as the 3 main CB's

I agree to this, we have a tight defence right now, may aswell play Rhys where we're needing that extra bit of strength.

Zhimai, Leadbitter isn't playing DM, he is simply just playing CM alongside McEachran.

haha...i can use other words.

with the 2 CM system Mogga is using, Leadbitter looks sitting deeper than McEachran

Neither are sitting, Leadbitter is doing the Robson job, bit much more effective by the looks of things. He tracks back but that's about it. We seem to be playing a higher line now, especially when Bailey is not playing, for some reason we seem too deep when he's on the pitch.

i dont like Zakuani from what i have read from him on twitter. A few comments about Marvin last year saying how Marvin was in his back pocket etc, a little too much arrogance for me and obviously he is a troublemaker for doing something so severe that P'boro, who are in as much need as they are to keep their best players at the club, list him.

insert cliche about a bargepole

i dont want to argue with you about how to use the word "sit". Surely you know better than me who is not using English as the first language. But i think in the normal game with 2 CMs adopted, one is in a deeper position acting as a shield in front of defence as the other one is in a more advanced position participating more in attack. You could either call the former player as DM or holding midfielder. To hold the ball and help the defence line are both the job what is required for playing this role. I believe Leadbitter positions himself a bit deeper and helps defence a bit more than McEachran.

to simplify the case not to drag out too long, I could call it as CM. I have no problem on it. haha...;)

I'm not debating the term used, I am debating the role you are saying that Leadbitter is playing.

From what I have both seen and heard, he is the Robson replacement. He will run all game and get stuck into both attack and defence. He doesn't sit deep and hold, he plays a higher line than that.

Not the position, the role.

The workhorse, the grafter, the creator. This was Robson's role, the is the role which Leadbitter took up and he does this from a bog standard CM position. Not holding, sitting etc... Just right alongside Josh Mc.

Also, Robson was a CM, should never have been used wide.
