Ollie10 continues to lead the way with the so far unbeaten 2plus2 being his nearest rival. As it stands, this is the lowest scoring group, with the greatest number of draws. Even Tellerion, languishing at the bottom with just 4 points, is only a couple of victories away from being back in with a genuine shout. Wide open. Group B Fixture 5: McTom123 1-1 LegendaryMisfit Borodane 2-1 Humpty Fixture 6: Legendary Misfit 1-2 Borodane Humpty 1-3 McTom123 Current Standings 01. Borodane [MP; 16] [GD; +07] [PF; 12] [PA; 05] ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 02. McTom123 [MP; 08] [GD; +02] [PF; 09] [PA; 07] 03. LegendaryMisfit [MP; 04] [GD; -05] [PF; 06] [PA; 11] Summary At the half way stage in the head-to-head group format, it's looking nothing less then a formality that Borodane will be lining up with 7 other group winning competitors in the Quarter-Finals. There are of course still 18 match points up for grabs, meaning the 8 point lead he has over his nearest rival is far from insurmountable. But it would take both a heroic run of form from his opponents, alongside a cataclysmic collapse for our Viking to fall short. With 16 points (5 wins and a draw), the Dane has both the greatest tally of points, as well as the tightest defence. It's not over, but the fat lady is warming her vocals. McTom's 4 points today keep him just about in the hunt. Humpty, and in particular LegendaryMisfit, are clutching at straws. Group C Fixture 5: Stubbzy69 2-2 GroupAverage Treknut 2-2 Boro-unger *The average score in this group fixture was exactly 2 points Fixture 6: GroupAverage 2-2 Treknut Boro-unger 1-3 Stubbzy69 *The average score in this group fixture was exactly 2 points. Current Standings 01. Treknut [MP; 12] [GD; +03] [PF; 14] [PA; 11] ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 02. Stubbzy69 [MP; 09] [GD; +02] [PF; 12] [PA; 10] 03. GroupAverage [MP; 07] [GD; 00] [PF; 11] [PA; 11] 04. Boro-unger [MP; 02] [GD; -04] [PF; 08] [PA; 13] Summary Stubbzy was the only competitor in Group C able to muster up a win today, seeing him narrow the gap between himself and Treknut to just 3 points. Unger fell further behind and remains the tournaments lowest scorer, with just 2. The unmistakeable sound of water-filled lungs and gargling barks can be heard for miles around. Group D Fixture 5: CStephenson01 0-1 Boroboy Gladgarethhasgone 1-3 Alanfromboro Fixture 6: Boroboy 2-2 Gladgarethhasgone Alanfromboro 2-2 CStephenson01 Current Standings 01. AlanFromBoro [MP; 11] [GD; +02] [PF; 11] [PA; 09] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 02. CStephenson01 [MP; 09] [GD; +01] [PF; 11] [PA; 10] 03. Boroboy [MP; 08] [GD; +01] [PF; 11] [PA; 10] 04. Gladgarethhasgone [MP; 03] [GD; -06] [PF; 09] [PA; 15] Summary Alan and Boroboy were the beneficiaries in Group D as both put together a solid 4 points each. That sees CStephenson drop out of the top spot for the first time, but he remains in a very competitive position. It looks less promising for Gladgareth though, as another disappointing day sees him slip even further behind in what is looking more and more like a three horse race. But, then again, never say never. He'll need to get that leaky defence sorted out though. 15 goals conceded represents the most error-prone back 4 in the competition. Group E Fixture 5: Boroboy1980 3-1 Prowler YouAreMyBoro 1-2 Tho_e Fixture 6: Prowler 1-2 YouAreMyBoro Tho_e 1-2 Boroboy1980 Current Standings 01. Boroboy1980 [MP; 12] [GD; +05] [PF; 13] [PA; 08] ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 02. Tho_e [MP; 08] [GD; -01] [PF; 10] [PA; 11] 03. YouAreMyBoro [MP; 07] [GD; -02] [PF; 10] [PA; 12] 04. Prowler [MP; 05] [GD; -02] [PF; 08] [PA; 10] Summary It was a story of two very different sets of fortunes on the day for the top two, as Prowler draws a blank and Boroboy1980 secures maximum points. As such, the latter extends his lead and the former moves right down to rock bottom. Daylight for the leader - the chasing pack cannot afford a repeat of today's performances. The question is; how will Prowler handle his bad day at the office? And is that duck out of sight? Group F Fixture 5: Nawoo 0-0 Tanksie Aarfy_Aardvark 1-0 Group Average *The average score in this group fixture was 0.33, which is rounded to the nearest whole number to give a group average for this fixture of 0 points. Fixture 6: Group Average 2-1 Nawoo Aarfy_Aardvark 2-3 Tanksie *The average score in this group fixture was exactly 2 points. Current Standings 01. GroupAverage [MP; 11] [GD; +03] [PF; 10] [PA; 07] 02. Tanksie [MP; 10] [GD; +03] [PF; 11] [PA; 08] -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 03. Aarfy_Aardvark [MP; 05] [GD; -02] [PF; 08] [PA; 10] 04. Nawoo [MP; 03] [GD; -03] [PF; 07] [PA; 10] Summary Nawoo really has had a disappointing campaign as once again he is unable to put together any significant points. Tanksie does just enough to outscore all of his competitors on the day, including one abysmal goalless draw, but he's still ticking along nicely on the scoreboard, which is all that matters. The Group Average still leads the way, and even though he/she/it cannot qualify, there comes a certain amount of loss of pride in progressing as a runner-up. That said, a 5 point gap over Aarfy can be drastically overturned in one round of matches alone, so it's not just pride at stake. Group G Fixture 5: DanFromDownSouth 1-3 Kier Neverbefore 1-1 Smogsterking the Inspiration Fixture 6: Kier 3-2 Neverbefore Smogtersking the Inspiration 3-2 DanFromDownSouth Current Standings 01. Smogsterking [MP; 12] [GD; +03] [PF; 10] [PA; 07] --------------------------------------------------------------------------- 02. Kier [MP; 09] [GD; +02] [PF; 10] [PA; 08] 03. Neverbefore [MP; 06] [GD; -01] [PF; 09] [PA; 10] 04. DanFromDownSouth [MP; 04] [GD; -04] [PF; 09] [PA; 13] Summary A huge day for Kier as maximum points sees him not only treble his entire tournament match points total, but also leap from the depths of last to the dizzy heights of second. Smogsterking, however, had another solid day, and continues to occupy the lead, so results didn't all go Kier's way. Dan was on the wrong end of another 3-2 defeat, but he can only blame luck for so long. He needs wins, and fast. Group H Fixture 5: Stephenmilne27 1-2 Jamesp Workingtonboro 3-1 Vectorboro Fixture 6: Jamesp 3-2 Workingtonboro Vectorboro 2-2 Stephenmilne27 Current Standings 01. Jamesp [MP; 14] [GD; +06] [PF; 14] [PA; 08] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 02. Workingtonboro [MP; 08] [GD; 00] [PF; 11] [PA; 11] 03. Stephenmilne27 [MP; 05] [GD; -01] [PF; 09] [PA; 10] 04. Vectorboro [MP; 03] [GD; -05] [PF; 08] [PA; 13] Summary No positional change in Group H, but Jamesp is on fire, simply cannot stop winning, and has opened up a greater gap then even he could have imagined before the tournament began. At 68/1, the bookies are starting to look foolish. The groups really are now starting to take shape, with the frontrunners stepping up to the plate, and the underachievers hiding in the shadows. As a side note, there is a game tomorrow night that I couldn't recommend highly enough. Tahiti, made up entirely of amateur footballers (aside from one 'pro') face arguably the best team in the world, Spain. I genuinely think we're going to see an absolute goalfest. If Spain score any less then 10, I will be mighty surprised. In fact, I wouldn't be shocked if they came closer to 20. Watch this space..

Borodane 6,246
Very happy with my Boro-esque first half of the tournament. Really hope I don't continue the Boro way and drop out.
DanFromDownSouth 1,706
Bad day for me yesterday! Was hoping for Japan to nick a leveller so I could turn the 3-2 defeat to smogster into a win! Any how I have big games against Neverbefore and Kier to hopefully get the season back on track!

Tanksie 10
Its easy. The secret is that Uruguay and Japan are nowhere near as good as anyone gives them credit for and Nigeria picked a horrible squad.
