Current Standings

01. 2plus2 [MP; 14] [GD; +06] [PF; 20] [PA; 14]

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

02. Ollie10 [MP; 12] [GD; +02] [PF; 18] [PA; 16]

03. GroupAverage [MP; 06] [GD; -02] [PF; 16] [PA; 18]

04. Tellerion [MP; 05] [GD; -06] [PF; 14] [PA; 20]

Summary

GOALS! And a sh*tload of them! The so far unbeaten 2plus2 put 8 goals past Tellerion, and amassed the joint highest points in the competition on the day. On top of that, he leapfrogs Ollie10 into first and opens up a 2 point lead as well as a 4 goal superior goal difference. Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy..

Group B

Fixture 7:

Borodane 4-4 McTom123.

Humpty 8-2 LegendaryMisfit.

Fixture 8:

McTom123 1-3 LegendaryMisfit

Borodane 0-2 Humpty

Current Standings

01. Borodane [MP; 17] [GD; +05] [PF; 16] [PA; 11]

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

02. Humpty [MP; 12] [GD; 00] [PF; 13] [PA; 13]

03. McTom123 [MP; 09] [GD; 00] [PF; 14] [PA; 14]

04. LegendaryMisfit [MP; 07] [GD; -09] [PF; 11] [PA; 20]

Summary

Now then! It looked all done and dusted in Group B, but Humpty has risen to the challenge and opened up what only yesterday looked like the impossible. A fantastic 6 match points as well as 10 goals for and just the 2 against sees him narrow the gap between himself and Borodane to 5. The Viking seems to have taken his foot off the pedal as 1 solitary point as well as a total blank in the second fixture has given this group new life. It continues to look bad for LegendaryMisfit who is now 10 points adrift and boasts (for want of a better word) the competition's worst goal difference by far; -9.

Group C

Fixture 7:

Treknut 8-4 Stubbzy69.

Boro-unger 8-7 Group Average.

*The average score in this group fixture was 6.66, which is rounded to the nearest whole number to give a group average for this fixture of 7 points.

Fixture 8:

Stubbzy69 1-1 GroupAverage

Treknut 0-1 Boro-unger

*The average score in this group fixture was 0.66, which is rounded to the nearest whole number to give a group average for this fixture of 1 point.

Current Standings

01. Treknut [MP; 15] [GD; +03] [PF; 22] [PA; 19]

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

02. Stubbzy69 [MP; 10] [GD; -02] [PF; 17] [PA; 19]

03. GroupAverage [MP; 08] [GD; -01] [PF; 19] [PA; 20]

04. Boro-unger [MP; 08] [GD; -03] [PF; 17] [PA; 20]

Summary

Treknut has another solid day, whilst Stubbzy slips up, opening up a 5 point gap. However, the story of the day lies with Unger, who managed a staggering 6 points. Out of the blue, and although still a hefty underdog, this ol' dog has given himself new life and a real - albeit outside - chance. Ladies and gentlemen; put your hands together for the one, the only, the people's choice. He's back. Nobody says it will be easy though. The gap is still very intimidating. With 22 goals so far, Treknut is the tournaments top scorer. And his consistency - tournament after tournament - is staggering.

Group D

Fixture 7:

Gladgarethhasgone 6-1 CStephenson01.

Alanfromboro 6-6 Boroboy.

Fixture 8:

CStephenson01 1-1 Boroboy

Gladgarethhasgone 2-1 Alanfromboro

Current Standings

01. AlanFromBoro [MP; 12] [GD; +01] [PF; 18] [PA; 17]

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

02. Boroboy [MP; 10] [GD; +01] [PF; 18] [PA; 17]

03. CStephenson01 [MP; 10] [GD; -04] [PF; 13] [PA; 17]

04. Gladgarethhasgone [MP; 09] [GD; 00] [PF; 17] [PA; 17]

Summary

It's offical. Gladgareth plays mind games. After seemingly throwing in the towel and expressing his loss of faith and even lack of fight, Gareth has b*tch-slapped each and every one of his opponents, taken the full 6 points, stuck 8 goals in the back of the net, and even tightened up his defence - to the point of it being one of the very best on the day. Who saw that coming? Gareth will say that he didn't, but don't believe everything you hear. 3 points separate top from bottom in Group D. Everything to play for.

Group E

Fixture 7:

YouAreMyBoro 1-4 Boroboy1980.

Tho_e 2-5 Prowler.

Fixture 8:

Boroboy1980 2-0 Prowler

YouAreMyBoro 2-2 Tho_e

Current Standings

01. Boroboy1980 [MP; 18] [GD; +10] [PF; 19] [PA; 09]

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

02. Tho_e [MP; 09] [GD; -04] [PF; 14] [PA; 18]

03. Prowler [MP; 08] [GD; -01] [PF; 13] [PA; 14]

04. YouAreMyBoro [MP; 08] [GD; -05] [PF; 13] [PA; 18]

Summary

Boroboy takes maximum points again and all but seals Group E. It's not official, but it may as well be. Tho_e, YouAreMyBoro and in particular Prowler will all be disappointed, yet will no doubt fight to the bitter end. And, yes, it will be bitter. Boroboy1980's 18 points, as well as his +10 goal difference, is the best the tournament has to off.

Group F

Fixture 7:

Nawoo 8-2 Tanksie.

Aarfy_Aardvark 8-6 Group Average.

*The average score in this group fixture was exactly 6 points.

Fixture 8:

Tanksie 0-0 Group Average.

Nawoo 0-0 Aarfy_Aardvark.

*The average score in this group fixture was exactly 0 points.

Current Standings

01. GroupAverage [MP; 12] [GD; +01] [PF; 16] [PA; 15]

02. Tanksie [MP; 11] [GD; -03] [PF; 13] [PA; 16]

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

03. Aarfy_Aardvark [MP; 09] [GD; 00] [PF; 16] [PA; 16]

04. Nawoo [MP; 07] [GD; +03] [PF; 15] [PA; 12]

Summary

Danger Will Robinson. A defeat and draw for Tanksie opened up an opportunity for both Aarfy and Nawoo, and they gratefully obliged with 4 points each. Another group that could go down to the wire.

Group G

Fixture 7:

Neverbefore 2-4 DanFromDownSouth.

Smogsterking the Inspiration 5-6 Kier.

Fixture 8:

DanFromDownSouth 1-1 Kier

Neverbefore 2-1 Smogsterking the Inspiration

Current Standings

01. Kier [MP; 13] [GD; +03] [PF; 17] [PA; 14]

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

02. Smogsterking [MP; 12] [GD; +01] [PF; 16] [PA; 15]

03. Neverbefore [MP; 09] [GD; -02] [PF; 13] [PA; 15]

04. DanFromDownSouth [MP; 08] [GD; -02] [PF; 14] [PA; 16]

Summary

Yikes. Nil pois for Smogster as Kier's 4 sees him attempt a daring overtake maneuver, and succeed. Dan's 4 pointer keeps his hopes alive as he responds to the challenge set earlier in the week. As for Neverbefore, he needs to prove himself and justify his pre-tournament odds with a late flurry.

Group H

Fixture 7:

Workingtonboro 4-4 Stephenmilne27.

Vectorboro 6-5 Jamesp

Fixture 8:

Stephenmilne27 1-1 Jamesp

Workingtonboro 1-2 Vectorboro

Current Standings

01. Jamesp [MP; 15] [GD; +05] [PF; 20] [PA; 15]

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

02. Workingtonboro [MP; 09] [GD; -01] [PF; 16] [PA; 17]

03. Vectorboro [MP; 09] [GD; -03] [PF; 16] [PA; 19]

04. Stephenmilne27 [MP; 07] [GD; -01] [PF; 14] [PA; 15]

Summary

The big mover in Group H today was Vectorboro, who amassed 6 points with perfect timing - alongside that of group leader Jamesp's mini lapse. The gap may be 6 points, but at least he's back in with a genuine shout. It's not looking good for Stephenmine27 who never seemed up for this tournament after a gruelling league campaign. Looks like his predictions were still languishing on a beach on Barbados. There are no fixtures tomorrow. Give yourselves a short break and a well deserved pat on the back..

Oh the pain, the agony. I actually think I also lost the Spain-Tahiti match against McTom even though you have it as a 4-4 draw. Or do you get multiple points if one of you goalscorers score more than one goal?

OK, just checked the rules and found this which explains the high scores today and why I got a point: (b) two goalscorers (with 1 point awarded per goal that either of your chosen players score).

How do you score 8? Isn't it out of 4?

if you pick the goalscorer, every time he scores you get a point, so if he scores 12 you get 12 points, plus a bitch slap for rigging the match :P

Points will be awarded accordingly with competitors required to predict;

> (a) the exact scoreline for each fixture (1 point for the correct basic result and 1 point for the correct exact scoreline), and

> (b) two goalscorers (with 1 point awarded per goal that either of your chosen players score).

i take full responsibility for my rubbish showing

i plain didnt read the info carefully enough with regards to picking more appropriate goalscorers for each match plus i didnt realise tahiti were soooooooo poor and would leak goals for fun
