London_born_Boro_bred 29
As harsh as it is I think it is best to have a complete clear out of back room coaching staff as gutted as I am that a Boro through and through staff didn't work it didn't work! So lets start a fresh everyone has a clean sheet. VB you tease do you know WHO it will be?
Prowler 197
Fernando Hierro for assistant? :P
boroinbishop 65
SO now we have our guy who do you guys want to see him bring with him (we all know who BDS wants) could we see those that have played under him at madrid come in or is he more likely to go with experienced coaches? p_mards 1,365
Really glad to have it sorted. He's undoubtedly a bit of a wild card with his lack of Championship experience but the likes of Laudrup and Pochettino(at PL level though) have been great appointments and been able to adapt. London_born_Boro_bred 29
SSN just confirming what has been said. Bookies have stopped taking bets now too. We will announce our new manager tomorrow (that's Wednesday)
BoroDownSouth 60
I'd take Guti too if I'm honest?
andrewparkes 12
Im actually quite excited by the prospect. Hopefully can pull a few strings in spain and get a few exciting players/coaches in to help. Hopefully will generate enough interest to see the crowds return aswell Must be true, its made wikipedia alreay lol
-Tim@london- 17
Is it wrong that i wish the backroom staff would remain mostly english ?? :/ kinda scared that the club is going to lose its local feeling
Prowler 197
Mendieta as a coach? :P
p_mards 1,365
I would love Mendieta here as a coach. Surely his name must have been floated about between Karanka and Gibson when discussing the backroom team. Is there any news on confirmation of us appointing a Director of Football?. Aarfy_Aardvark 38
Roberto Carlos? :p
BillyWoofs_shinpad 1,884
Or Zenden? I'm surprised that so many people are worried that he's foreign, It's a small world these days, we've all been abroad, it's not scary!
holgater 6
Is it wrong that i wish the backroom staff would remain mostly english ?? :/ kinda scared that the club is going to lose its local feeling Really couldn't care less what nationality our backroom staff are. Of course it was 'nice' to have local lads, but it hasn't worked out and we've been going backwards for absolutely years. Gibbo has obviously now come to terms with this (unlike when we had the opportunity of a German manager and he said no to 'Middlesbrough-on-Rhine') and has adapted too. It doesn't matter if our staff are from Boro or Barcelona, aslong as they are good at their job, care about us while they're here and bring some success, I'm all for anybody. We will always be a 'local' club anyway imo, because of Gibbo. Not many teams are locally owned these days. We're still different ;)
LinoJo3 3,191
Why are people so bothered about us being 'local' we have been for the last 3 years and it's achieved nothing on the pitch. Can we not just get people who are good at the job and not worry where they come from for once?
Prowler 197
Half the people in Spain are from England. :P
