p_mards 1,365
Karanka being at the Doncaster game makes a lot of sense so that he gets to know a bit about the team in a match scenario to let Gibson get to know his thoughts and plans for the current team so that they both know what each others thoughts are so are starting from the same understanding. As Gibson has already said that he thinks we've got a decent squad that just needs a few tweeks here and there with no major overhaul, which went drastically wrong under Strachan. Also with Jorge Mendes being Karanka's agent maybe that could help us get a few of his talented youngsters on season long loans, as them performing well would increase the reputation of Karanka as well as the player(s) so would benefit Mendes. LinoJo3 3,191
Never thought about that Karanka using mendes to get some of his players
richmfc 41
Venus doesn't excite, caretaker only. Big changes, Director of Football and Overseas Manager. Its very tempting to go for a new guy maybe even a foreigner. Some potential super coach that will sign us top quality players from abroad. Your imagination can go wild. But in reality we could end up with GS3. Sign loads of players that become the new jock invasion. If venus gets 4 games at least we know what were getting. Be carefull what you wish for Yea but that's what the interview is for to find out what his plans are. Strachan was interviewed and dicanio
LinoJo3 3,191
And? Maybe Gibson backed strachans plan? At the end of the day it's Gibson that sanctions the transfers.
An Aussie In Shanghai 1
Agree with LinoJo3. You would hope Gibson has learnt his lesson and wont be so quick to approve everything the new manager asks for.
ham_chop 36
I read that as his agent trying to force some progress from us. Snowblind - I take your point, Wolves nosedived worse than us, or maybe just earlier. Still, I'm confident we won't repeat their feat this season. couldnt agree more about his agent - not uncommon at all....
"KM" 1,656
Hibernian's manager has left his post. Could Tony Mowbray come back into management with first club he managed? I think he'd take Venus as well.
p_mards 1,365
Mowbray would surely be able to get a job at a lower half Championship or at least an ambitious League 1 club so I don't think he'd have to lower his standards by returning to Scotland.
BillyWoofs_shinpad 1,884
I'm not sure he'll walk back into management that easily, I think he'll suffer from what is known as the Robson effect.

I really do wonder sometimes.....
Guest #07
Karanka wasn't at the Doncaster game, it was officials from an Italian team and an agent linked to the club. BillyWoofs_shinpad 1,884
It's just Mendes touting around his latest "flavour of the month" he's going to be the managerial equivalent of Bebe!
p_mards 1,365
#07 do you know from which Italian club the officials where from?. I'm guessing Inter Milan with Marco Branca being their sporting director. Anthony Vickers confirmed Karanka was at the Doncaster game and said he was a prospective part of our unfolding links with big Euro teams, also a member on here was certain he seen him stood with Kenyon and Bauser. BillyWoofs_shinpad 1,884
To be fair, the member thought that he'd seen Paul Okon. He only decided it may have been Karanka after reading this board. #07 didn't we fall out with Branca, big time?
