January Transfer Window 2014

Recommended Posts

Karanka needs to call Mourinho "Now then fella. How you doing? How's the family? Listen mate, no time to talk, I f*cked up, I let a forward go thinking I was going to get a new one. Turns out we won't now get the money we need as the player we were going to sell got injured. I promise this will be the last favour I ask (this transfer window), can I have Demba Ba? Don't make me beg, just put him in a taxi with some sandwiches and we'll pay for the taxi at this end when he arrives. Cheers Homie. Love you."

so we are phone hacking! that sounds like a direct quote to me!

You can always tell when frustration starts creeping into the forum lol!!!

Don't know about others on here but I went on a downer when Williams picked up his bad injury last night, I thought here we go again just when he seemed to be coming into a bit of form, the result of the game was what a lot had predicted before hand, at least we didn't lose.

Brilliant! :D :D :D

To be honest, Jutkiewicz leaving without us bringing in a replacement isn't going to weaken us. Think we could even send Main out on loan...or maybe do a swap with Chelsea so he could spend some time training with them (god knows his technical ability doesn't seem to be improving with us).

Seriously though, the last couple of games must have brought it home to AK how badly we need some firepower up front. I don't mind if we have to wait until 11pm this Friday, as long as we bring someone (preferably a couple of strikers) in.

I think Karanka WILL know who we are signing, I think him saying he doesn't know is a polite way in saying, f**k off asking me about players! I'm not telling anyone anything!!!!

I'd say we need to sign four players before the deadline and for definite two. A striker is a must, we all know that. If Given can be secured for the rest of the season or permanently then that would be my two definites.

Then if we could add a second striker considering we already needed a striker and have now let one go and a player to play off the striker, this 'No.10' that has been banded about that would do I feel.

I think 4 will be far too optimistic. I think we'll secure Given until the end of the season and bring in a striker on loan until the end of the season (my bet is Becchio). I have a feeling the number 10 we apparently want is someone of real quality and this one could go right down to the wire. My gut feeling is that this is the one who shall not be named *cough cough* Vossen.

Well yes, I doubt we'll bring in four before close of play on Friday. But for me that is how many we need. Two for definite like I said and the other two, they might have to wait. Either until the summer or if we're lucky the loan window. Although I doubt the players we'd like to bring in will be available during the loan window.

I dont know if anyone heard, but its clear from the interview after the game, the transfers are above AK's head, he said the club is working on players but he doesn't know who, and he will work with them if they join. This is the head coach vs manager debate, i think karanka is solely responsible for the footballing side of things and transfers are decided further up.

Did he really say that? I find that very strange, surely given he's picking the team and the style of play he should have an input into who we are trying to sign. I'd hate to think we've got Bauser playing football manager and thinking he knows a signing.

I seem to recall the exact opposite been said in an interview before Christmas, I'm still trying to find the interview but I'm sure the Gazette printed it but basically when asked about the January transfer windown Karanka said ALL transfers will go through him and won't go ahead without his blessing.

He might not fully know the situation as of last night as I don't think he'll have much to do with the actual negotiations but then that has been the case for most/all of our managers.

I don’t believe Karanka has no idea of which signings we’re pursuing. From what i know, there’s now a committee that decides upon transfers at the club which includes the manager, the chairman, scouts, trusted aides and ex-players. It’s certainly not a case of the manager stating he wants a player, the chairman agreeing to it and the chief exec. going out to secure the signing.

There are processes in place to prevent another Alves happening, processes which include a transfer being passed by committee, extensive scouting in person through statistical data and with character references as decision making aids.

It may be a case that Karanka has identified exact type of player he wants and our new scouting structure will have identified a number of suitable candidates. Karanka will be given the list to decide up on which players he wants to pursue. This makes sense given his lack of experience of capable players at this level.

Now stop that right now. Im really enjoying all these people imploding , the ***s really are starting to flap.

When it gets to 1 day to go i rekon someone willwrite a letter to parliment claiming their human rights have been abused by the club being typical boro , letting all our players go ,having no idea who we want, spreading spin , etc etc

Now if you go dispelling that it'll ruin all the fun

I'm confident we'll bring in at least one forward before Friday, most likely a striker. I also think Doyle, Graham and Becchio are an improvement on what we currently have and whilst each will play that role a little differently to the other, all three will score goals in our set up.

Each has a proven record of scoring goals at this level at some point or other in their past and all three have made bad moves (through their own choice or not) The difference is that when they come to us they're going to be looked after as a first choice centre forward. They'll be given time to build their fitness up and get accustomed to the team, whilst Karanka will give them every chance to establish themselves. They won't have huge amount of direct competition other than Kamara and all three will relish the creativity we have in behind them.

Fingers crossed that whichever player comes in, realises its a chance to kickstart his career again and we see the best of them.
