The Times interview today with Chuba. I’ve missed all the pics out as I don’t know how to get the whole article across and it’s behind a firewall, but you get a good feeling of what he thinks.

Superb article from The Athletic published today... Gives you a real sense that something special is being built. We've been crying out for this for so long.   Michael Walker 2h ago  2

Interview with Ayala from MARCA.  The translation's a bit off but you can still get the jist of it.

"Premier League Ascent with Middlesbrough and the eleven ideal of the English Second

Dani Ayala, the Karanka Karanka

Una call Benitez changed the life of Daniel Ayala (El Saucejo, Sevilla, 11.7.1990) . He was 16 when he left Sevilla to enlist in the quarry of Liverpool with Dani Pacheco, Mikel San José, Gerardo Bruna ... "Benitez did not have to convince me it was an opportunity I could not pass up . I played five games with the first team orders Rafa and I think that if he had followed in Liverpool, I also have stayed longer. When he left, we went almost all except Torres and Reina.

Hodgson did not want so many Spaniards "he says. With the departure of Benitez began his pilgrimage. Between September 2010 and October 2013 he went on loan to Hull City, Derby County, Norwich, Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough: "It was crazy: I changed five times from home in a very short time at first you assume with enthusiasm! . You go from playing with the reserves in a closed league without promotion or relegation, to compete with pressure. "

Ayala, as he is nicknamed in England, made landfall in Middlesbrough 20 days before Karanka fichara by the 'Boro': "I came yielded three months and ended that period, I signed for three seasons and a half". For the Basque coach has nothing but praise: "I am very grateful because continuity and has given me has always given me a lot of confidence the coach has a strong character does not look at the name and age if you do it right, you play...". Regarding Benitez, it provides a reasonable likeness: "They have different methods, but emphasize that the two are very meticulous in their work."

The 'Karanka Karanka' -the technical acted now central to his stage futbolista- has earned its nomination in the Best XI of the Championship (second division English): " It's an award that here are given enough value to be elected through the vote of one 's peers . it is a great pride that you recognize your work, especially because often the votes fall on players who come from the Premier and are more media ". It is the first individual award falls on the Middlesbrough. Tomás Mejías and was elected in the eleven ideal of the League Cup.

The 'pitbull' the 'Boro'.  The physical power of the Seville Central lanky -Measures 1.90 meters- prompted Amorebieta christened him as the 'Pitbull'. "I define myself as a strong player who is well above the front are very physical and like do not go to 100%, you pass over. " His style, after all, also defines Middlesbrough: "We were the fewest two consecutive seasons we are a very well organized team I liken us a little with the Atleti We are very hard to beat...".

The Ayala temporadón -the sum of three goals in Liga- crowned with the rise against Brighton . "I am very happy I have wanted to play and prove myself in the Premiership, it would be nice to do it with the 'Boro' -has a year of contract-. This is a historic club. " On the horizon, distant, is a possible return to Spain. "In the future back, but now I'm very happy here , " he says with an accent, after 10 seasons, almost more English than Seville. Spanish accent does not lack the 'Boro'. Mejias, Nsue, Damia and Sola escorting Karanka on the field: "I think we've made quite all have integrated very well."

Nope, it was reported a deal was close around February / March but no deal was announced. This was when he was still injured I believe and not long before Humpty mentioned he was actually fit. So I can only imagine talks had broken down or pushed back until the end of the season.

translated

"A loose Stuani in England

Tala El Flaco adapts to handle the steering wheel to the right, to a new culture, no longer see the sun

Cristhian book kept driving course signed the contract and walked to the car he had rented. He sat in the car and hit the first impression. He had to get used to driving with the steering wheel on the right side. Everything was upside down. Street lifelines. But it was not the only surprise. "I was given a manual car, of course, I feel the right side and the changes had them on the left side. Imagine what it was leaving the rentadora! It was terrible. Besides, roundabouts are on the opposite side. It takes time getting used to drive in England. But biting a tire me nothing happened , "he laughs Stuani to Referee from Middlesbrough.

El Flaco Tala, who played in Danube , changed his language, customs, climate and became one Stuani loose in England. There crying for the rain stops and the sun comes up . "It changed everything. The language, climate, times. I knew it was a new experience and here I am trying to adapt to what is England. Everything is different, a different culture , schedules and notice that in Spain there at 9 pm people gathered for dinner and here at 19 are already eating dinner. in the morning tear very early. Driving is all wrong, you're on the left andarivel of road with the steering wheel on the right. "

El Flaco says that what most strange is the weather. "The weather is screwed. We are in May and in most of Europe and the beginning of summer it shows but we are here with rain every day. Cae hail, sleet, gets to snow. Ando all day jacket. You know what is to come from a city where the sun always and you have to come here and see it once or twice a week! "he says wistfully Stuani. and add more data everyday life. "There was a month in January, the sun came out once. I want to die. To me caught my attention that day the sun came out people walked in sandals and short sleeves despite the cold. Of course, the sun is the new. you live in the dark, no way. they are experiences that one can count but to live them is not easy. "

over the days Stuani learns to master the language. "I came to the Indian. But we are studying. My daughter of 8 years is clear because he went to a bilingual school. She and the baby 2 years adapted quickly. The language is a weapon that will have for the future" said the striker. Like any Uruguayan Stuani manages to drink mate and set fire to roast. "being with Gaston Ramirez and Carlitos De Pena help. we got yerba, Uruguayan beef in London. we misses a little weather but we together and we light the fire in my house because I have everything organized. I have two parrillitas we could put together and that we roast. people here do with coal, we try to do with firewood but hard to get firewood from the mountain , "reveals Stuani.

the days pass the Stuani in England.

Cristhian fight promotion to the Premiership with Middlesbrough. His children and his wife adapt to a new life. "There are times that are difficult. The people out there think that the player is all nice but there are other things that are hard to take. Nobody gives you anything. For the family, the lady left alone because in the week you have three games. the weather did not help, another language to raise children. There are difficulties. and those things people do not see them and are part of the player's life. "

from country country Italy North-South struggle

"in Italy was in Calabria, a southern city with great weather. it has the coastal area and a nice promenade. in the pedestrian a parade that runs through the center is organized and people are going to take coffee. it is customary to have ice cream. My first trip abroad was an experience that I remember fondly, had a good time . with the Italian language I took it well. the Hormiga Valdez and Pablo Alvarez helped me a lot. in Calabria talking theme mafia but nothing ever happened. the South was a country and the North another, with people more power. They make you feel and you get the shirt South ". Spain Four cities to enjoy " In Albacete I lived in Castilla-La Mancha. You do not have sea and is very extreme in time when it is much summer heat and winter when it is very cold but I liked it . Then Levante. Valencia is a larger city. Is the famous pink beach grammed. From March to April we went with my wife to walk to the beach and we ate paella. Hence Santander, north. With one of the most beautiful bays in the world. You have the Cantabrian Sea, very green, mountain, rains a lot. And then Barcelona . Another thing. A city with all the letters. Not make you want to never leave. You know how strange climate of Barcelona! ".

Yeah but it shows how hard it is to adapt, one of my friends went to play in Australia, although there's no language barrier, he struggled with the weather, always playing in temperatures about 20 degrees hotter than youre used to, the same will apply for people used to the heat playing in the cold.

The fact he's complaining about the weather suggests he's fitting in fine, it's one of our favourite pastimes! ;)

But in all seriousness, it is a good insight into a players thoughts coming to a country for the first time.

Especially after swapping Barcelona for middlesbrough...

Sounds like he can't wait to leave. Did he say one positive thing besides his children adapting well to the language? If his form is going to change so drastically every time the winther hits then perhaps he is not suited for this country.

And he sounds like he is a real danger on the roads ;)
