McClean doesn't wear the poppy because he's from an estate in Northern Ireland where 6 people were killed on Bloody Sunday. He's said numerous times that'd he'd wear the poppy if it was restricted to remembering those who died in world wars but as it's also used to remember those soldiers who died during the troubles, he doesn't.

Which is fair enough, he shouldn't be booed for it.

I agree shouldn't be booed, but he wasn't even born when the troubles in Northern Ireland were taking place, so he must have been keen on Irish history, or its been bred into him, will leave it at though.

Superb article from The Athletic published today... Gives you a real sense that something special is being built. We've been crying out for this for so long.   Michael Walker 2h ago  2

The Times interview today with Chuba. I’ve missed all the pics out as I don’t know how to get the whole article across and it’s behind a firewall, but you get a good feeling of what he thinks.

And the turning his back on the national anthem?

As someone who doesn't believe the monarchy holds any real place in modern Britain other than tourist value, good on him.

The anthem (regardless of what it's called) has very little to do with the queen these days

Oh, it's definitely been bred into him.

Is chapman with the England youth team? He is not even on the bench today for Sheffield United. I was hoping he would get some gametime.

Yeah he's with the U20's I believe! Think I saw something on the website about it a few days ago

Fischer just set up eriksens goal with a delightful first timed back heel pass on the edge of the box. He is pure energy today.

And almost broke the bar with a thunderbolt from 25 meters.

Here's a clip of the goal. Truly beautiful team play and a great touch from Fischer:
