I think we will be better placed than most for a few reasons.

1. Steve Gibson. He puts in as much as allowed. So no issues with him being caught short. I think FFP rules will be relaxed for next 2 years.

2. The academy. It's already provided lots of players this year. They are now ready to step up even more.

3. Other clubs are bust. Derby etc already having to be creative to stay afloat. We will be one of the best placed in our league.

4. Wage demands will go through the floor. Our budget will be amongst the best.

A great Athletic article on our youth recruitment in London (copied from the other site): Saturday afternoon in the north London postcode of N22: on White Hart Lane a steady stream of fans make t

Superb article from The Athletic published today... Gives you a real sense that something special is being built. We've been crying out for this for so long.   Michael Walker 2h ago  2

The Times interview today with Chuba. I’ve missed all the pics out as I don’t know how to get the whole article across and it’s behind a firewall, but you get a good feeling of what he thinks.

I don't think wage demands will go through the floor, not immediately anyway. I think there'll be a period of reflection whereby footballers have to consider their career and the financial stability of clubs and may have to make sacrifices to their immediate future.

But lets not forget one of the reasons footballers are so well paid to begin with is that it's a competitive market. The best players, everyone wants. And to sign them, they often have to be the highest bidder. Given the risk-reward clubs do even in a safer market, I think others will try to take advantage of clubs refusing to spend as much. Do we have the financial clout to go head to head with clubs like that? I don't think so, personally. We still have Woodgate in charge and I don't think this season is a good example of why he deserves a bigger budget.

Looking at league averages I don't think we need to go head to head for big earners. We actually do better at the lower end I think. Not perfect but better.

I'd expect us to bring in 5 or 6 this summer. And hope to goodness we keep Wing, Coulson, Spence, Tavernier.

I don't think many will be making moves this summer until we know for sure we're not gonna go straight back into lockdown later this year, which we probably won't be able to confirm nor deny because it will happen based on the latest numbers and at the last second. That or if clubs and players alike can agree to some kind of financial protection if we do go into lockdown, players need jobs but clubs can't pay them when nobody is around. Clubs like ours will (or should) be very careful to commit to too much in wages.

Agree on that. Next season may never start. Ending this season one way or another needs to happen. But next season can only start when there's either a virus of effective control. The problem with the latter is what if a town or region is in lockdown. It could end up being a right old mess.

Especially once the flu season starts and all the vulnerable people start picking up different bugs.

This is probably going to be one of the most effective viruses nature has come up with.

It's interesting you think that because I was reading that the top Italian scientists seem to have the opposite opinion. They think the longer it's in the community the weaker it's becoming.

Going back to Boro.. having watched the goals from the inter-squad friendly, the defending looked truly horrific.

Why have the club released footage of an inter squad friendly? Surely such things should be kept under wraps.
