You've gone off on a lovely tangent there to all that is wrong with the club but still haven't explained how it's a toxic job for a manager to take

Not off on a tangent at all. The club has been declining and its now clinging to Championship life. I think its a toxic mess caused by years of mismanagement at the top with no coherent strategy, plan or structure as I have illustrated in all the previous posts. The latest being the appointment of a coaching team with no experience of coaching at this level, a squad of players that are overpaid and brought in at ridiculous overvalued prices, more poor recruitment at the opposite end of the scale which was meant to be the way forward and now a knee jerk desperate appointment (albeit the best under the circumstances) to try and plug the leaks caused by the aforementioned. Today's appointment makes it 13 Managers since 2006, thats 13 Managers in 14 years.

A great Athletic article on our youth recruitment in London (copied from the other site): Saturday afternoon in the north London postcode of N22: on White Hart Lane a steady stream of fans make t

Superb article from The Athletic published today... Gives you a real sense that something special is being built. We've been crying out for this for so long.   Michael Walker 2h ago  2

The Times interview today with Chuba. I’ve missed all the pics out as I don’t know how to get the whole article across and it’s behind a firewall, but you get a good feeling of what he thinks.

We seem to say it every year lately, but massive rebuilding job needed in the summer. I do think the long term strategy approach is right (of course it is!) but it was just very poorly executed with an inexperienced Woodgate and Keane combo. Obviously other issues as well with youth coaches leaving and bringing in former players to help out!

If Pulis wasn’t able to take us in the direction that Gibson (and the fans) wanted, I don’t think Warnock is the long term answer either. Another rookie would be far too risky with a whole rebuild job required.  So it will be interesting to see what happens next.

I would expect 4 at the back from Warnock and not a Pulis one entirely, he played with Joe Bennett at left-back during Cardiff's promotion season and he isn't exactly the most defensive of full-backs even if he has become better at it in his latter years, similar story with Peltier on the opposite side though I believe Manga/Bamba also played right-back when Peltier was out.

IIRC Cardiff played 4-5-1/4-4-1-1/4-3-3 depending on the game at that time. Similar in the Prem too by the looks of it, which may be a better one to judge against given the battle to survive.

I think he'll probs go with 4-4-1-1 if he can get Roberts on the field, a lot of what Cardiff did well was built around the quality of Junior Hoilett especially at this level. Thinking maybe something like this:

Stojanovic
Howson Shotton Fry Friend
Tav Clayton Saville Coulson
Roberts
Britt

I think Mcnair is going to end up back in defence under Warnock. I don't think thats a bad thing either. Similiar to Wilsons team I think Mcnair will end up at Right Back with Howson in midfield over Clayton. I'd hope for something like this.

Stoj

Mcnair - Shotton/Fry - Moukoudi - Johnson

Roberts - Howson - Saville - Coulson

Morrison.

Britt.

Johnson at Left Back isnt ideal but Friend is absolutely done at this level. Coulson and Johnson have looked decent when playing together as they can both cover one another comfortably.

Including Morrison is just my personal preference as we need somebody who can link up with Roberts as he is on a different wave length to our other players and i think maybe Morrison offers that. Could easily be Wing but we'll see.

Shotton or Fry you can flip a coin as far as I'm concerned. Don't think either are particularly good.

(Stojanovich/Pears) who ever has the most confidence at the moment.

         Shotton, Mokoudi, (McNair/Fry)
Spence                                               Coulson
       (Howson/Morrisson), (Saville/Tav)
                      (Roberts/Wing)
         (Gestede/Nmecha), (Fletcher/Britt)

This formation might suit our squad the most - 5-3-2 with wingbacks and a playmaker behind the 2 strikers.

Any takers?

IF Warnock wants two up top I hope he chooses the Britt/Fletcher combo. Both are better that Nmecha and Gestede, have scored more goals for us and both will be here after the 8 games regardless of league, so if we plan on selling some players we need our own players to finish the season as good as possible and a few goals in the closing stages might actually mean that will be able to offload Britt for a decent fee. I have seen nothing to suggest why Nmecha should be ahead of either of those players and certainy not Gestede despite his decent performance at CHarlton.

Not sure how anyone who watched the Swansea game can ever want to see Friend play for us again.

And if you haven't got two good centre halves - play three. We looked so slow and horrible last weekend... I don't think Clayton and Wing will be mobile enough for Warnock.

‐--------------------Stoj------------

--------McNair-Moukoudi-Fry------

Spence---Howson--Saville--Johnson

-----Roberts----????-----Coulson----

Honestly no idea who gets the CF slot. Who ever Warnock thinks looks the least useless in training this week.

I wouldn't be averse to seeing us try that. Roberts and Johnson wide for some decent deliveries and it could work.

Whatever Warnock does... I'm confident it'll be better than the utter shambles Woody served up.
