Wasn’t Woodgate only appointed first team coach a day or two ago? That’s a bizarre decision if they were contemplating the manager’s position. A new manager would want his own back room staff. Unless.... 🤷♂️
ballyclover 210
Reading the Birmingham threads they absolutely hate AK with a passion. An 8% win rate since arriving. Not beaten anyone in bottom 5. Only beat boro and I quote due to a "covid" hit/recovering squad. Odds on to go down, can't see where next win is coming from. Unable to change tactics when required. All sounds too familiar.
RiseAgainst 3,777
[An exclusive insight into the Bournemouth boardroom yesterday] Tindall: Look, I managed to half-smile through the photo shoot like you asked, but you can't seriously expect me to work with this muppet! Bournemouth: Er, yes we can. Tindall: You're off your f**king heads. Did you see what he didn't do at Boro? Bournemouth: Yes, but he's cheap. Greggs cheap. We need to save some money really quickly. In fact... 1
Skinemrippers 894
Karanka was given some slack at the start of the season by the fans but with the results he’s been having it was only a matter of time really. It’s his team as well, he’s bought a lot of players but just can’t get them functioning.

I think he started to lose his way when he was here unfortunately. The Charlton episode, the falling out and naughty stepping of players, the implosion with Higgy after that Blackburn game, the defending while getting beat so we didn't get beat by too many in the Premiership and I believe that he and Leo didn't end on the best of terms. I do believe the guy is a borderline genius but like so many geniuses they can't always effectively communicate and socialise with others due to being on a different wavelength. That said I hope he pulls Birmingham clear and can build something.

wilsoncgp 9,230
That thread about the old matches found me watching the Ali Brownlee vid the club put out again, it's been nearly 5 years since he passed and just over that since his last commentary. I just found this whilst trying to find which was his last commentary for Boro which I believe was when we lost 3-0 to Hull City away. It's a really nice read, made me happy and sad but all in a good way. What a bloke he was, what a life he led. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-tees-47454678 1

When i'm feeling sad/down I watch the highlights of that match and Ali's commentary always makes my eyes well up. The sheer exuberance and and genuine joy in his voice coupled with the genuine passion without a drop of falsehood just hits me every time. Much to the annoyance to my ex wife as she was always quick to point out that I never shed a tear at our wedding, when our children were born or any of the funerals we had attended together. Good job see wasn't there when we last promoted as i reckon she would've drop kicked me right in the Jacobs on that day too 🤪 2
RiseAgainst 3,777
I'd love to see us name a stand after Ali. I know there'd be loads of debate about who the other three should be named after (Dibble or Guzan, for instance), but the Ali Brownlee Stand is a no-brainer.

Would have loved him to see us get promotion. The commentary against Brighton would have been immense!

His enthusiasm was infectious. Having said that he used to annoy the hell out of me when we'd missed a narrow chance. He'd commentate in the same manner on these chances as he would if we'd scored. You never never knew what had happened and when we hadn't scored ...well you can imagine the frustration!
