I don't really disagree with too much of it, but I'd question how much of a detailed opinion a neutral can actually have after spending a day watching Middlesbrough clips and stats (going through his twitter feed, he loves a stat dump) on his computer/phone.

The fact that he's done it in a day at the request of that Boro Breakdown podcast would also imply to me that he'll have went in with preconceived notions gained from them.

The comments about Payero and Tavernier in particular stand out to me as something he'll have been told/heard on that podcast and will be why so much of it seems like familiar opinion.

Great quote from Kevin Blackwell in the Athletic today 🤣🤣🤣

I can't imagine that game getting approved by Hasbro...

It's my birthday today, meant to be my 30th but I've refused to allow that in current circumstances of not being able to celebrate it. I usually get my age on the back of one of my shirts so I re

How much time do you think opposition scouts/managers spend watching us, like?

On Tavernier, he's said he's our best player. Well statistically we've seen already that adds up, it's been plastered all over how he's our best player this season on that front so I'm not sure why that makes you think he's gone in with bias on that front, it could easily be one or the other.

On Payero, how many people on here or anywhere have been making the comparison to Argentinian football? How many people on here watch Argentinian football, let alone grasp the difference in aggression or speed? One or two maybe but it's hard to see how he could develop a preconceived opinion in 5 minutes from somewhere it isn't already really out there.

Maybe he's not entirely neutral but he's not a Boro fan, there's plenty of luggage that carries and makes it easy for people like Johns in the Gazette to come out with the crap he has, being spoken about as if we don't have a clue, that we're almost too close to it to even form a logical opinion.

I would guess the scouts spend significantly more time than that given it's their job.

I mean the comment about playing him in his best position, not the fact he's statistically our best player, he conveniently doesn't actually say where he thinks Tav's best position is just that we play him there.

I doubt he watches much more Argentine football than the average Boro fan given he just seems to be a Watford fan in his 20s on Twitter.

The very fact that he's giving an opinion on Payero not actually needing time to bed in is proof enough for me that it's a reaction to comments from Boro fans, because purely from watching his performances in the matches (bar a bright cameo against Blackpool in the league) you wouldn't think he was up to speed.

Same with the Isaiah Jones is better than Onel Hernandez comment and should be played ahead of him, it makes no sense as a comment from a neutral unless he's already heard Boro fans complaining about the 2 game period where Hernandez played ahead of him.

Hernandez played 3 games for us, scoring in one of them, and has been injured for the last 3, Jones has played 10.

I'm fine with the criticism of Warnock as I think his time is up and he's doing a bad job, but I think that twitter thread is largely playing to the crowd.

The one part I'm not questioning are the comments about Howson because I genuinely think that is something that a neutral would pick up on quite quickly if he watched enough of our recent matches.

Not sure where to put this really, but this is a cool travel/matchday vlog from a Blackpool fan, it's really well done although the majority of the video focuses on Whitby where they stayed before travelling to the game

Whitby is probably what Blackpool used to be like, before it got the amusement park, tower, big gaudy arcades and Christmas lights.

Important info for Boro fans going to the Cardiff game you must be fully vaccinated or get a negative test

Must have read about Middlesbrough. Wonder if they think everyone will turn up in PJ.

Amazing, I love it. It's just a lovely relatively local getaway. I can't wait to go back. Literally first holiday we're planning post-pandemic. Friend of family runs a B&B there so we've been a few times over the years to stay over.

My favourite place, it’s a must visit.

Last time we went, it was the cooooooooldest windy and eventually rainy day, we went up to the Abbey to see Dracula being retold by actors and actresses who had clearly done this act hundreds of times in all sorts of weather, using all sorts of improvised tools to keep their less firmly fitted clothing attached to them 😄 it was still an amazing experience.

    • Swansea average 66% possession every match so I imagine their fans see that sort of game a lot. I'd prefer us to be adaptable and exploit a team's weakness with Long Balls than to try and play right into their hands.  I've seen enough from Wilder's first 4 games that we'll play a modern style of football for the most part. But I'd always prefer us to be a winning team than an attractive team...

    • Smogsterking is right,  I just googled Celtic managers and before Jock Stein they had the trio of Willie Maley, Jimmy McStay and Jimmy McGrory

    • I would love Utd at Riverside so I can take my little cousin to watch Cr7 who he is obsessed with. Cr7 probs would not play but would like to think he on bench and has to come on when we are leading them but his efforts prove in vain as we knock them out.
