He was definitely out for a while and SD is right, it is always difficult to get straight back into a team after injury unless you're one of the pivotal players in the squad. Look at Ayala, Pulis has said if he's fit, he plays, regardless of anything.

It really shouldn't be that difficult to break into our midfield three as only Howson and Clayton have performed to an acceptable standard.

But he also wasn't getting into the U23s for a while either. He clearly wasn't fit to play. He certainly doesn't seem to be refusing to play for them, nor does he seem unhappy.

I'm not expecting Pulis to shove him back in the squad for the next game, I'm just saying if he was ill, he was quite justifiably dropped out of the team, even if not justifiably kept out of it since he came back. Then it becomes difficult to oust anyone as someone with very little experience behind you.

A great Athletic article on our youth recruitment in London (copied from the other site): Saturday afternoon in the north London postcode of N22: on White Hart Lane a steady stream of fans make t

The Times interview today with Chuba. I’ve missed all the pics out as I don’t know how to get the whole article across and it’s behind a firewall, but you get a good feeling of what he thinks.

Superb article from The Athletic published today... Gives you a real sense that something special is being built. We've been crying out for this for so long.   Michael Walker 2h ago  2

Especially when the 2 players that also compete for that midfield spot is two new PULIS signings ... He somehow MUST use them, in hope they look good, so that Pulis himself doesn't look daft .. Weird but logical.

But sooner or later, Wing will get his opening .. If he then performs well, only illness or suspension can keep him out, just like everyone else performing well.

Who is defending Pulis?

My thoughts entirely. I thought everyone's view was that Wing should be in the squad and Pulis has gotten it wrong leaving him out. Just saying why he disappeared from the squad and why he isn't back in it yet doesn't mean we agree with it.

Exactly, Wilson.

Explanation and defending has never been the same thing.

I honestly think, that Wing should be in the team as a game changer, if plan A doesn't work and other times he should be plan A, depending on the opponent.

That ofc implies, that he performs well.

And I still can see, with Pulis glasses, why he wants HIS two signings to come good.

I'm not just talking about Wing though. I'm talking about all our young players. Pulis will only play them when there is no other way. Dropping Fry from the squad entirely to have Batth on there, and completely leaving out players like Wing, Tav and Fletcher who could arguably offer more from the bench than 5 defensive players, a keeper and a striker. I know he likes to talk about having a small squad and some youth players in the first team but on the face of it he is just not going to use them and it would surely be better for the aforementioned players to go out on loan because they will only get minimal gametime here. It was only at the start of the season when he was forced to play them they had a decent chance. Now we are back to experienced players who offer very little going forward.

You're not explaining anything, you're making excuses for him. To explain something you'd have to know that that is the reason he's out of the squad. Pulis said weeks ago that Wing was back from sickness, he hasn't been in a squad since.

Stephen Walker scored a hattrick for England u19 when they beat macedonia 6-2 yesterday. Seems like he is having an interesting season so far. Hope he can stay clear of injuries and keep impressing.
