Very experienced defender. Played through a lot of the second half of the season while managing a nasty knee injury which he deserves plenty of credit for. Another newly-wed…congrats!

This is Friend talking about Shotton - I know he was out for a while injured but didn't realise he played with it for half the season? Might explain why his form appeared to drop off pretty considerably in the back half of the season?

Typical Pulis forcing lads to play injured-

Wing had a hamstring issue he played through until it caught up with him at a key moment in the season

Flint had hamstring issues

And I seem to remember someone else playing through hamstring issues, maybe Besic?

Ayala did last season, remember something about him barely being able to walk.

Ayala has for a few seasons, hasn't he? Pretty sure by his own standards, he thinks he's been injured on and off for about 3 years.

I was flicking through the pre season pics the club released today on the website and cannot see Braithwaite in any of them. Seen Randolph, Sav and McNair but no Braithwaite.

Anyone know if he reporting late or maybe just refusing to report at all? Latter would certainly make headlines.

Yeah Anthony, he said some of the things that you and your lot should have had the balls to say yourselves.

Indeed. While I find it very hard to forgive any player for not giving 100% when they are playing I can quite easily forgive any attacking player for feeling frustrated at Pulis. Very few attackers thrive under the Orc. Every word he said about Pulis is true and while I normally don't condone players mouthing off I can forgive it as it was against spinmeister Pulis who never stopped talking about how great he was and how much he'd done for the club.

What a ridiculous article. Vickers is insane.

He trawls social media, collects a few outrageous opinions, takes those as the general consensus then half agrees with them whilst arguing against them at the same time.

Is he a member of this forum? ?

    • Used to wind up the opposition by lighting a Woodbine if he was having a quiet game...  ran across him a few times when I used to go to away games ..  had a "colourful" vocabulary, but always happy to mix with fans and got pleasure from the number of people that acknowledged him.
    • I think people are giving Warnock the benefit of the doubt because he's done what no manager has done in the last decade and bring in quality wide options. Even Karanka, our best manager in that period, played Stuani out wide incessantly. Warnock has actually signed several players with genuine attacking promise, suggesting that the current tactic of hoof it to the (not very) big man up front may not be his long-term approach. Let's face it, Cardiff did more than hoof their way to promotion under him. With some time to bed in, a front four of Kebano, Bolassie, Watmore and Fletcher is mouthwatering, with the likes of NML and Johnson in reserve. The fact Britt and Akpom couldn't hit a cow's *** with a banjo is holding us back, but I don't believe Warnock would have signed the wide creative players he has if his sole tactic in the rest of his time at the Boro is going to involve asking a s**t keeper to hoof it. There has to be more in his long-term plan than that, otherwise he might as well do what Pulis did and play four central defenders and five defensive midfielders. Surely NW needs the summer to see what sort of tune he can wring from this promising (if currently under-delivering) squad? That's why I and probably others are cautiously optimistic about his contract extension.
    • Indeed he was in goal the very first time I watched a Boro game
    • Not sure why I thought you were then unless it was those things and I just assumed you must be.  Cheers anyway.
    • Before my time but heard lots about him.  RIP.
