Great quote from Kevin Blackwell in the Athletic today 🤣🤣🤣

It's my birthday today, meant to be my 30th but I've refused to allow that in current circumstances of not being able to celebrate it. I usually get my age on the back of one of my shirts so I re

I just googled it.  A *** youtube team, of course Brunners is a supporter 🙄🤦‍♂️

Hey man, they're a legitimate non league football team now! In the FA Cup and everything. The best known & best sponsored non league team I would imagine, with sponsorships from Football Manager & Adidas.

They even have their own version of Adam Traore.

I wish I had a second team at times it's an absolute ballache supporting Boro.

Area has no other remotely good sports teams besides a semi decent speedway team or if you like your rugby trek up to watch the Falcons, I just follow Yorkshire in the cricket and a couple of American sports teams can't bring myself to give a f about another football team sadly I wish I had it in me to sometimes because there's nothing pretty about watching pub team football or 50 yard punts week in week out for going on 4 years but *sigh* I persevere...

Right now am I watching my local team FC Midtjylland play CL qualifiers v Young Boys Bern.. Good game, but 0-0 at half time..

I follow FCM, but am not active on the forum, and I don't watch many league games, even though we are Danish Champions...

But I follow the Boro through ups and downs.. I watch all games possible, even on dodgy streams like yesterday...

And oh, I reached 1000 upvotes here today 💪😎🤘

Well done mate 💪

I go to like 10 FCM games live in a season... And between 1 and 4 Boro games in Non Corona times..

And Then the Odd National team game..

But most my games I watch on the tele.. What about you, mate?

Not really much of a football fan, more of a tennis man myself 😉

Nah, Boro, obviously, season ticket for too long to pass a sanity test.  In the dim and distant past I'd get to plenty of away games as well but that's not happening at the moment.  I'd also watch Hartlepool, Darlington (when they were league clubs) and some of the non-league sides if Boro weren't playing or they were away and I wasn't going.  The others were just to watch a game though, I'm a Boro fan only 😣

Actually, I suppose I'm an England fan as well but I've never really thought about that being the same as Boro.

Go and watch Bristol city occasionally Weston-super-Mare ground is only about 600m from my house so I see them to get my football fix. But it’s only the Boro I care about

Apart from Boro and the mighty Randers FC, I follow Arsenal and Flamengo (my wife’s 2 teams) and go to Brighton matches occasionally with mates although they’ve never done it for me as a team.

I went through a phase of watching Southampton years ago, when I lived there. It was a good time to follow them as the likes of Shearer and Le Tissier were just establishing themselves, however I was in the crowd when Saints scored against Boro and whilst everyone else was leaping around, I just stood still.
Fortunately Bernie scored for Boro I think we drew, but I knew then that I couldn’t seriously support Southampton, I stopped going regularly after that.

So really he shouldn't have even still been in the stands on Tuesday. Worrying given his age, regardless of how well we can ensure he's looked after. I hope he gets through it and also hope he hasn't passed it on to anyone else.

    • In fairness to Gibson, he's not likely going to invest a lot of money while Warnock is in charge. I expect he'll be given a modest transfer budget...just a bit more than he had this season. Its not going to be another Garry Monk spending spree, thats for sure. At the moment I think the club is in damage limitation mode until they can get fans back in the stadium and money coming through the turnstiles. I think its a case of better the devil you know. We're not likely to improve much next season, but another mid-table finish will do while the club gets back on its feet financially and is in a position to attract a better standard of manager. I mean, if you were a talented and ambitious manager, would you look at Boro as a good career move right now?
    • Indeed. We can point to lack of quality and strength in depth, (which definitely were factors), but how often did Boro concede ridiculously soft goals, either due to inept keeping or defending...basic schoolboy errors? If we'd at least been decently organised at the back, (not watertight - just decent), we might well be looking forward to the play-offs.
    • We finished exactly where I expected us to, in all honesty. Always found the talk of play offs baffling when we just about stayed up last year and didn't improve the squad in any meaningful way.  You can get promoted with average players and a great manager (likes of Leeds, Sheff Utd, Burnley) or you can just have a bigger squad with much better players than everyone else (Bournemouth, Watford, WBA, Fulham etc). Then you get Wolves, Norwich, Newcastle that have both and walk the league.  We had the money to make a bigger, better squad than everyone else and blew it... We've also had about 5 opportunities to get the manager right. Now we have neither and that won't be changing over the summer, so I think people need to be realistic. Is Gibson working behind the scenes to bring in an ambitious, upcoming Bundesliga manager to take over Warnock's steady mid-table ship? Find it hard to believe personally.  Foreign billionaire fancies an investment in the north east? Again, highly doubt it... and careful what you wish for anyway and all that. We're a mid-table Championship side until a big catalyst comes in.
    • I just can't see where the money is going to come from judging from the club accounts and Bulkhauls horrendous year. Unless sales are happening
    • As mentioned above I do feel the lack of depth and quality in the first half of the season had an impact with us unable to rotate and rest players in our squad meaning we struggled in the 2nd half of the season. The likes of Mcnair were playing 4 games in 8-9 days with the international breaks but we didn't have any option to rest him given injuries and lack of quality to cover him. I think we were only a point off Watford when we got to January. Unfortunately our 3 loanees came with a lack of match sharpness requiring time to settle and then we lost the likes of Tav Dijksteel and Fry at important parts of the season. I agree with the second part I do worry with giving Warnock significant money considering he has probably got no more than 12 months left with us. It would be a huge gamble and if it goes wrong it sets us back another few years. However we need a fair few signings to even get on par regarding the standard of our squad for this season.
