A great Athletic article on our youth recruitment in London (copied from the other site): Saturday afternoon in the north London postcode of N22: on White Hart Lane a steady stream of fans make t

Superb article from The Athletic published today... Gives you a real sense that something special is being built. We've been crying out for this for so long.   Michael Walker 2h ago  2

The Times interview today with Chuba. I’ve missed all the pics out as I don’t know how to get the whole article across and it’s behind a firewall, but you get a good feeling of what he thinks.

Sorry all, wanted to let you know that we all have to refer to Boro as Ironsides now. I don't make the rules.

But we could also be Newport County (didn't they knock us out of the League Cup a while back)?

I think whoever compiled that list is getting confused with the fact that for a short time there were 2 Middlesbrough teams, one of which was called Ironopolis (club historians feel free to correct me here).

The talk about Britts transfer fee got me thinking about something. Therefore thought would ask on here as opposed to derail the transfer thread.

Which big money signings have we made that proved a success at boro. Lets say anything above £5m was big money.

I think the only attack minded player that justified his big fee was Yakubu.

Other than that its CBs our club has done well on. Southgate at £6m, Ugo at £7m (RIP big man), Woodgate at £7m and Huth at £5m all proved good buys.

Anymore?

It depends what your definition of a big money is, obviously what was big in the 90s would barely raise an eyebrow now.

Could argue Traore, but that's based on 6 months and a big sale.

Paul Merson had a huge impact in his one season here, and was sold at a profit.

Randolph was a big fee for a goalkeeper and was the best in the Championship whilst he was with us, I think we arguably made a profit on him too.
