Great quote from Kevin Blackwell in the Athletic today 🤣🤣🤣

It's my birthday today, meant to be my 30th but I've refused to allow that in current circumstances of not being able to celebrate it. I usually get my age on the back of one of my shirts so I re

Warnock says we have offered Fletcher a new contract

Also states Fletcher has decided he does not want to sign it yet and seems to indicate he being influenced by others around him.

So if Fletcher does bad rest season he'll stay. If he does excellent scores goals so we promoted he'll stay. If he does excellent but we just miss out on promotion like lose in playoffs he'll go to a Sheffield United or Westbrom who can pay him 25k+ in wages. Is how I see it

He isn't irreplaceable though.

Nobody in our team is really irreplaceable, I think it comes down to the confidence of people in our recruitment effectively replacing them. We spent a fair chunk of money on Fletcher, way more than we needed to but he's finally started to come good and now is the time we look like we might lose him. I'm afraid every time we lose a player who's doing a good job for us because I've still no faith in us replacing them well.

THink he'll stay. He's 25 now and looking from the outside he's hardly been prolific or a standout player in the Championship. I very much doubt that there is going to be a clamour for his signing and clubs over bidding. He might be offered a slightly better deal elsewhere due to being a free transfer, but I doubt he someone the relegated teams or teams chasing promotion will have as first or second choice. Being first choice here could easily be the most appealing option.
