Well then after enduring the poor performance from Man U tonight and so many poor English performances I thought it would be interesting to see people's opinions on who should go to the world cup.

My 23 would be

Hart, Forster, Ruddy

Cole, Baines

Walker, Johnson

Cahil, Jakielka, Lescott, Jones/Smalling

Gerrard, Wiltshire, Barry, Barkley, Lampard, Carrick

Chamberlain, Johnson, Milner/Lallana, Sterling/Rodriguez

Rooney, Sturridge, Lambert/Carroll (Carroll if shows form in rest of season)

I'd take Luke Shaw ahead of Lescott or one of the Man Utd centre backs. 4 centre backs is enough. Luke Shaw has been quality this season.

I'd take Jordan Henderson as well. He's been a key component in Liverpool's fine form this season.

A fair bit of your squad will be in the 23. I think Henderson shall be in probably ahead of Barry. On current form Smalling and Carrick shouldnt be in the squad.

I think theres 4-5 places still up for grabs with the likes of Shaw, Zaha, Ince a***st a few others will be vying for those extra spots. I also think Welbeck will find his place on the plane despite his poor record at club level.

I'd write my 23, but thinking about the lack of quality available in this England team for the world cup depresses me too much.

Completely forgot about Henderson. I would take Barry as he has been brilliant for Everton this season. The fact Lescott is in there shows the lack of quality we have at CB.

Hmm I would replace forster with Heaton. Cole hasn't really played a lot this season and Carroll needs much more game time if he's to make the squad. Never rated Milner. I'd consider taking Shaw at Southampton instead of smalling or jones and Rodriguez over barkley and include sterling as well.

after tonights woeful display i woulnt have smalling or cleverley anywhere near my squad even if i was the faoe isles manager and those two are slightly above jones in my books , wellbeck is touch and go, rooney was **** poor tonight but he,ll be on the plane , oh almost let young get away without a mention , nah wont go intio even considering that option .

all in all in what was a shambolic performance the english internationals were by far the worst out there . the very worst being a former captain,

carrick ....mmmm maybe but has silpped behind henderson at the moment

doesnt look at all promising ,,,,,

I'd like to see us play with Liverpool's English contingent of midfields and wingers which have a great understanding of Henderson and Gerrard holding with Sterling on the left wing and Sturridge right wing. Rooney could do a good job of playing Suarez's striker role. All we will need is someone to play the Coutinho role between midfield and strike. It probably won't ever work when they put on an England shirt though like many other players over the years.

Only promising thing is that we are mainly arguing on which of the young players to include but I do agree that Jones/Smalling/Cleverly/Lescott aren't good enough but we have nobody else especially in the cb region. Personally think that after the world cup and for the euro qualifiers we should be playing/including the youth players full time

I agree that Barry has played well I just feel he may be overlooked most likely for Lampard. I think Terry may get another press related push closer to the World Cup and I wonder if Hodgson will buckle. I do dislike JT but cant fault his performances this season.

I think Dawson and Caulker are perhaps 2 other options. Im an optimist and i do feel we can get out of the group. My prediction is the quarter finals but realistically id say winners :).

Looking further ahead we got the dream Euros draw. Maybe picking players for the future at the World Cup could get them major tournament experience without the pressure England teams have had in past years.

It's worrying to think that 7 Man Utd players will more or less be going to Rio: smalling, jones, Welbeck, young, Cleverley, Carrick and rooney. We may as well forfeit and save ourselves from the embarrassment.

think the general consensus after the last world cup was to go with the young guns as gerrmany did the years earlier but you get the feeling that the squad will be quite similar to the last major tournaments .

then we,ll be saying the same things over again , hell i woukndt be suprsed if lampard goes .

My squad:

Hart Forster Foster

----

Walker, Johnson

Jones, Cahill, Jagielka, (can't think of a decent English CB... maybe Caulker?)

Cole, Baines

-----

Henderson, Wilshire, Lampard, Gerrard

Barkley, Chamberlaine, Lallana, Sterling

-----

Rooney, Rodriguez, Sturridge, Lambert.

No Smalling, Cleverley obviously.

I rate Jones, he just keeps getting ruined by United playing him in midfield or at right back. Stick him in CB and let him grow as a player there.
