Boro V Huddersfield (A) 2-2

Recommended Posts

With Tomlin, we just paid £1.5m for him. Karanka is probably set knowing he's our AMC going into next season so can afford to have him not play (especially if he's been ill) and let the others prove themselves as prowler said.

It's obviously just illness. Tomlin has everything to prove still.

It would have been nice to have created the goal through great play as opposed to a terrible back pass mind :)

Yeah but at least he'll have a place here next season. There's no way we'd pay 1.5m for him if he didn't.

There are a lot of other players that AK needs to decide whether to keep in his squad other than Tomlin

The fact that we paid money for him is irrelevant if he either isn't good enough or doesn't fit in. Should we find that out now or next season do you think?

Right so you think we'd just blow £1.5m on him and that to NOT be a commitment to him for next year? We'd pay 1.5m for a player to the end of the season that we already had on loan till then anyway?

They watched him in training for a few weeks before paying the money, they clearly decided they liked what they saw, plus AK has had nothing but good things to say about Tomlin since he joined.

Again, I repeat: Them splooging £1.5m on him is us committing to him for next season.

I'm with CT on Tomlin. If he is good enough and ready you play him instead of giving chances to inferior players who have been here longer "to prove themselves" you play the best available. This isn't the reserve team league.

I agree - Tomlin seemed something of a panic buy or maybe AK's hand was forced somewhat - we had him on loan so why pay good money for him without having him play a game for us?

Great. So next season if he doesn't fit in or isn't up to it then it won't actually matter will it? Because we're committed to him so that's that.

The deal was agreed for the signing already, it was a loan simply because we couldn't get the medical done in time. Fortunately or unfortunately depending on how you view it, we have a chairman who is a man of his word. Once he'd given it there were only two options, he failed his medical or we signed him.

    • Hi everyone and I hope all are doing as well as can be under the circumstances? Still no sign of this nightmare abating for a while yet. Plenty of examples of people still not understanding the social distancing rules or maybe defying the advise or instruction. Plenty of conspiracy theories going around and certainly G5 towers being damaged because of it. Where will it end I wonder as I would not be surprised to see further examples of social unrest down the line. Are any of you feeling the brunt of the reality of COVID 19 or know of friends, family that are going through it, if so hopes of a pull through are sent to you? So much time on our hands now, use it well and take good care of yourselves.
    • Wonder who Sky sports would employ to slate boro if Keith Andrews goes...🤔
    • As is typical of the FAI Robbie Keane signed a 4 year deal at the time that McCarthy signed a 2 year deal so he still has a contract. However it is understood that Stephen Kenny does not want him in the senior set up. Kenny wishes to work with Keith Andrews as his assistant and Damien Duff as coach.
    • Hello everyone, Hope you are all well, I see ROI have bought forward  theyu21 boss appointment as boss of senior teams to replace Mick McCarthy. Does anyone know if that means Robbie Keane also left? Cant find anything other than FA thanking Mick and his staff for they work.
