Well it's fair to say Karanka is building a very exciting team. We will be a real threat next season. Karanka knew we had to make offensive reinforcements and that's exactly what he's doing. Looking at the ages of the players we've signed and are looking at, it seems we'll have a fairly youthful side who could possibly grow as a unit for years to come.

Just to get everyone a little more excited when I was on holiday in Mallorca a few years back Mallorca were playing Real Madrid first game of the season and Nsue was playing... He was absolute class !!! Then went to watch him a year later and he was even better really happy with this if it's true would be a fantastic signing !!!

I'm sure you've already said that? :D

I'm just so excited !!!

@GraemeBailey: Middlesbrough being strongly linked with Emilio Insue as the solution for their right back/wing back issue.

Graeme, have you been reading this thread? :D

@untypicalboro: Emilio Nsue is pacy RM but can play at WB & up front too. Ex-Spain U21 but switched to Equitorial Guinea. Played 140, scored 13 at Mallorca

@GraemeBailey: Boro boss Karanka worked with Nsue whilst Spanish youth coach, as he did with recent signings Tomas Mejias and Kike, who were in same squad,

Is @GraemeBailey getting mixed up with Emiliano Insua? Former Liverpool Defender?

He's realised and edited it :P

On his day, Steele is a decent keeper. No more. No better than Dimi. Remains to be seen with this new fella who's been brought in.

The difference is that he puts the fear of god into his defence, he doesn't control his area, he rarely catches a ball but most importantly he doesn't talk. I've said it for years.

If we have any ambitions about going up we need a solid foundation starting with experience in goal.

I'd sell him.

That's conjecture and not something I agree with, given my own experience of watching him (and the defence) at close quarters both home and away.

Karanka changed our style of play when he came in. That's a fact. Our defensive strategy/style of play under Mowbray was haphazard at best. It was a free for all with no organisation and no co ordination, the fear of god was in each and every defender due to the vulnerability they were placed under. That's obvious to anyone that watched us under Mowbray. Karanka brought a new philosophy to the team which brings solidity and protection. No keeper since he came in has been placed under the same pressure Steele has been under through Mowbrays regime.

The bit about him not talking plainly isn't true. I've sat behind him at enough away games to know that.

I trust Karanka, most things he's done so far have been brilliant. Meijas is an unknown quantity and he may well be better than Steele, but there's no way on gods green earth Konstantopolus is a better keeper than Steele. I'll be disappointed when Steele leaves because there's a hell of a talent there.

Versiltility and adaptability are all great atributes to have in a boro player but I cannot decide if i prefer having squad members who are specialist defenders, midfielders etc rather than players who can play in multiple positions. every time I think ive decided I remember someone who makes me change my mind.

Not often I agree with you humpty, but on this occassion I wholeheartedly agree. Before his injury, had Steele been at a premier league club he would have been pushing for England's wc squad. I don't mind dimi but don't think he is any better now than when he was at pools. He may have been one of the best keepers in their league but not a patch on Steele for me. However, if Steele is going to play 2nd fiddle to meijas, and given how infrequently keepers get injured, I wouldn't be adverse to selling him for a decent fee if it helps us bring in our primary targets. Dimi is an adequate backup

@untypicalboro: @ChrisMello87 No, he's not the RB they've been talking to.

Not sure I go along with that, Nsue matches everything hinted at, attacking full back, worked with Karanka, current club unable to afford his moderate wages, linked with British clubs previously, and is very well known to Football manager players
