Will 2,958
Supposedly Extra Gear is meant to be way better than the actual new Top Gear. Haven't got round to watching it myself yet though. Yes it was, I really like Chris Harris on it. He would be a good replacement for when Evans has a breakdown about the viewing figures.
Denzel Zanzibar 6,931
Evans is right though, the viewing figures won't tank.
Will 2,958
Evans is right though, the viewing figures won't tank. It depends what you mean by tank, at its peak it was 1m viewers lower than the last episode of the real top gear. After the first show I can't see that number growing at all. Denzel Zanzibar 6,931
If the BBC want people to keep watching it, then they will.
Brunners 7,952
Evans is right though, the viewing figures won't tank. It depends what you mean by tank, at its peak it was 1m viewers lower than the last episode of the real top gear. After the first show I can't see that number growing at all. Chris Evans went from saying "Anything less than 5m viewers is a failure" to saying "The new Top Gear is a hit. OFFICIALLY. 23 % audience share. 12% MORE than the opening episode of the last series. These are the FACTS." In fact he continued: "Top Gear audience grew throughout the hour. FACT. Won its slot. FACT. Still number one on i Player. FACT. These are THE FACTS folks." "Top Gear audience grew throughout the hour. FACT. Won its slot. FACT. Still number one on i Player. FACT. These are THE FACTS folks." "Top Gear audience grew throughout the hour. FACT. Won its slot. FACT. Still number one on i Player. FACT. These are THE FACTS folks." "That's without the 1.2 million views (so far !) on the i Player. Obviously as these ate THE ACTUAL FACTS, they'l continue to ignore them." A key thing to remember - and something he's ignoring completely - is this: how many of those millions tuned in just out of curiosity. This thing has been hyped for months & has had well known troubles. I'm not surprised their opening figures weren't terrible. Wouldn't be surprised if the number is significantly lower next week. This, 100%. A lot of people will turn off after last week, and if it's the same again this week it'll continue to decline. I'll give it a chance for the season if I can make it through, but Chris Evans needs to chill out sharpish.
bugrit 31
I've just watched it on BBC iPlayer and the principals just weren't sparking, either between themselves or with the audience. The format is unchanged but the show lacks the camaraderie laced with needle that made the other crew such fun to watch. LeBlanc wasn't too bad, I suppose, but Evans was just bloody irritating. Have they got anyone else lined up?

bugrit 31
Does the EU Referendum remind anyone else of the Monty Python "Argument Clinic" sketch? Is this the five minute argument or the full five months? I've just told you. No you didn't. Yes I did... We're better off financially staying in. No we're not. Yes we are... Immigration is out of control. No it's not. Yes it is... Employment would suffer. No it wouldn't. Yes it would... The bloody Tories started this. No they didn't. Yes they did... David Cameron's a two-faced tw@. No he isn't. Yes he is. Underneath it all he's actually a sceptic at heart. A really, really sly one. No he isn't Yes he is...
