DanFromDownSouth 1,706
When Rahane and Kohli were dug in I was starting to worry. But luckily the magic man Moeen, got the vital wicket. After that it was a question of when. That said Ashwin, but up some resistance. Think the 5th test we should leave the majority of the squad as it is, but I would consider bringing in someone fresh to open and a new number 3.
DanFromDownSouth 1,706
I'd maybe bring in Burns to open, and try James Vince or Hildreth at 3. I love Mo, but I would like to see him further down the order.
OldManGravz 1,350
So, my laptop has bitten the bullet, but I don't really know where to go get a new one... Can anyone help me? Laptop or desktop, new, used or refurbished, I'm not fussed. Just looking for something with the following: i5/i7 processor (Not a low-powered U processor) 8GB Ram, HDD running at min 7200rpm or SSD 1GB dedicated graphics card Or if anyone knows anything about building one from scratch and could advise me, I wouldn't mind doing that. Cheers folks!

wilsoncgp 9,283
I built my current desktop computer back in 2013 using PC Part Picker: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/ I've not used it since then but what it essentially allowed me to do is conceptually build up a computer with parts that will all function as one build, i.e. if you pick a processor, when you go to pick a motherboard, it will only allow you to select a motherboard that will work with that processor. At every stage whilst building, it showed me price comparisons for each part from different providers (I tried to get all my parts from the same provider and found a provider which was mostly trustworthy). OR another option (which I preferred for a laptop) is to use PC Specialist: https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/ That's essentially have them make you a custom laptop or PC with different potential starting points. The main reason I went with PC Specialist is because I already have a license for Windows 10 and it's the only real seller I've found which allows you to buy without the Operating System. If you can do that, from memory I think it saved me about £85. My laptop is mostly still going strong from about 2 years ago I think it is. Second option might be better if you're not too sure about building one too. My first build, I got quite lucky. It only failed to boot up once and that was because I had one of my fans connected to both my motherboard and power supply so the thing was short-circuiting.
boro-unger 3,870
I much prefer desktops. Lot more reliable, fixable and upgradable. I bought a relatively cheap zoostorm pc with a relatively good amd processor for about £350-400, then put a Samsung ssd and a 1050ti graphics card in. Ssd upgrade was my favourite. Absolutely silent. The hard drive the pc came with was so noisy. Horrible grinding noise. Apparently this is normal... plus the pc boots up in no time

I was on that old thing so often that I couldn't remember what silence sounded like, the fans were always going at full pelt and I had to make sure I kept my temperature monitor on at all times. Built my new one with an SSD and wowee what a difference on boot. Even now after 5.5 years, it's pretty solid and I've only had to replace the PSU. Not perfect for the latest games though (660ti card in it which was decent at the time).
Brunners 7,982
yeah custom building a desk top is the way to go. Built mine in..2011 first time I think, have changed a couple bits since, upgraded my motherboard and went up to a 980ti. Am curious about going up again, changing up to an i7 and the newest nvidia card.
