DanFromDownSouth 1,706
Looking like it's going to be a repeat of the 2007 final!
DanFromDownSouth 1,706
Another big game to come for England next week. A different test entirely from New Zealand. If we bring that same defensive speed and intensity we had yesterday, South Africa will be really tested.
DanFromDownSouth 1,706
Even though Ford had the game of his life yesterday, I wouldn't be surprised if we reverted back to Farrell at 10, Manu 12 and Slade 13, to nullify the South African centres. Injuries permitting of course.
TeaCider24 12,403
Really looking forward to next Saturday, hopefully it isn't a tough game for England but I fully expect it will be. England were fantastic yesterday, need to raise their game again.
smogsterking the Inspirati 2,453
Agreed prefer South Africa in the final. Plus we have the extra incentive of avenging the 07 final defeat.
TeaCider24 12,403
England have started poorly. Kyle Sinckler was knocked out and went off early.
Duvel 2,446
I find it hard to understand how a team can be delayed getting to world cup final. It reminds me of us at Wembley in 2015. Still, its 6-6 and all to play for.
Denzel Zanzibar 6,931
Oh dear. England just totally outplayed after SA's first try, it's like we just gave up.
smogsterking the Inspirati 2,453
Such a shame the Sinckler ko so early on was such a massive thing in the game. The scrum won the psychological battle and that essentially won the game. South Africa were outstanding and ruthless whereas too many of our players I think the occasion got to them with so many silly errors happening.
AnglianRed 6,229
England got suckered into playing SA's game. Turgid kicking bore fest for the first 65 minutes...bar those couple of occasions England actually got close to SA's try line. Made too many mistakes, gave away cheap easy penalties and too much sloppy passing. Credit where its due to SA though. They had a game plan, stuck to it and made it work. Wore England down then got expansive late in the game, once we were tired / lacking concentration. Annoying as hell though, when you consider how well we played against NZ. Even more annoying when you consider Wales only lost by 3 points AND managed to score a try against them in the semi.
DanFromDownSouth 1,706
With hindsight think we played our final last week. Annoyingly we knew exactly how South Africa would play, and we just could not cope with their power game, especially at the scrum. But credit to them they played very well! Downsouth 6,176
Yep SA gave us a good kicking literally, far and away the better team. England did not have a clue how to deal with them
