As someone who got a job as a Deputy Manager in a pub to help get him through the pandemic whilst his main sector - the Entertainment industry - was being outright buggered from lack of adequate support, can I just say?

... *** the government.

Excuse my ignorance but have the pubs just been closed in the UK?

Announced that they will close at 10pm (because the virus likes an early night) new measures are including off-licences too.

Thanks Dan. Pubs that don’t serve food only opened yesterday for the first time since March here in Ireland. Don’t think that this virus is going to go away anytime soon unfortunately

No problem. Yeah I think you're right in terms of it not going away soon. I think eventually it'll just become part of flu-season. The seasonal flu jab will include the Covid-19 vaccine (when it's available).

Yes agree. I should have said earlier that it’s proving harsh on @Snowblind and other people in his industry. Keep the chin up mate and keep plugging away.

only difference I have seen so far in the last week is that people are drinking at a faster speed...still the same number of drunks staggering past    and people buying a lot more large boxes in Morrisons etc.

Yeah but they would rather not shut the pubs because then everyone will be whinging about that, as well as some of them going out of business, and lots of people becoming unemployed like poor Snowblind.  At least he can always fall back on his previous career with the FBI.

If the measures were actually about stopping the spread of the virus as opposed to scapegoating people for the government's failure in their own measures, the pubs would be shut. And I'd support that. Currently the sector workers feel like we're being treated as canon fodder to the virus.

The reality is many of us are now doing 300% the work load for, in my case, 80% of the pay, and we're under pressure by law to enforce the 200% extra work at the same low rate of pay on cut hours.

It's beyond a joke.
