Boro Vs Huddersfield

Riverside Stadium

17th January 2015

'Olright me 'ansums...

Welcome to me match thread for the visit of Huddersfield Town (and Jacob Butterfield) to the Riverside stadium.

We are all fully aware of what happened last time we met last September, but for those of us whose minds may have slipped.. a reminder...

Yes.  This was the day we were blessed by the "ThunderB**tard"!

And what a game it was - this absoloute peach of a strike from Grant was pretty obviously countered by the inevitable John Stead equaliser 4 minutes from time. Not to be outdone however, Grant secured all 3 points with a match winning penalty in injury time.  Let us all hope that the drama is as no where near intense this time round - Another thunderb**tard wouldnt go a miss though!

Form

Boro (last 6 HOME games) - D-W-D-D-W-W - culminating in a 3-0 victory against Forest on a sold-out Boxing Day.

Huddersfield (Last 6 AWAY games) - D-L-L-L-L-D - although it needs to be said they have picked up excellent home wins against both Watford and Bolton in their last 2 games.

Talking points

Clayton and Butters - Both playing against their respective former clubs.  Clayton returning is a huge boost for us.  I feel he holds the midfield together with Grant and we lose tenacity and energy when Clayts is not in the 11.  Hopefully Butters will get a decent reception.  After all, he did nothing wrong whilst here - and by signing for Hudds allowed us to get Clayton.  He should be praised to the high heavens for that alone!

Up Front - Who will it be?

Will we finally get a goal?

I know this is not strictly about the match but as it's Huddersfield Town related I thought I'd put it here. I wanted to link this website http://www.htfc-world.com

It's got a load of cartoon type match reports which are very funny reads. Most are Huddersfield related but some aren't, it's all pretty funny stuff though and worth a look.

No, they'll be just the same mate. It's just that we'll also have a couple of poor results to add to them. Really want six points here. Ipswich and Bournemouth have easy games on paper on Saturday, the Derby and Watford games don't look too bad for them either. In midweek we have a home game and Bournemouth and Ipswich are away with nobody else playing so it would be nice to get those points in the bag and hope for those two to slip up. We just have to start finding the net with more regularity.

Some of the Huddersfield fans fancy their chances of taking all three points in this game after their win against Watford.

Wont be an easy game for us but it's a game we must win. We need a big performance from a few of our forward players just to give them a bit of confidence back.

I would be more worried if we were playing games and not creating any chances but we are creating and I feel once we get one goal a few could follow.

Haha. That's brilliant!

Anyway. Adamant we're going to keep a clean sheet and score a couple of goals in this. 2-0 boro. Leadbitter and ayala to score. Ooh rah!

Very glad Clayton is back also. We always seem yo do better with him in the team. What a signing he was!

Boro need to get back to business in the final third of the pitch. We're keeping shape and defending well, as always, but we are lacking that killer touch at the moment. I'm not concerned for the time being but I'd feel more confident if we can get back to winning ways. The goals will come for us, I just hope that it happens in this game.

I'd really like to see Wildschut to be given a chance on the wing, I know Adomah isn't as good on the left but he hasn't been firing on all cylinders of late anyway. Reach's attacking play still isn't where we need it to be, so I'd say let the Wild one loose on the right and if it doesn't work change it up at half time and bring Reach on.

if the hudders fans think its going to be like the reverse fixture they'll get a shock. they also want to them to play 3 at the back. for any reading we have found it very very easy against 3 at the back this season. is will give us a massive advantage. last 2 games were 5-1 away at millwall and 3-0 at home to forest. both games we were barely troubled at all.

reading through their thread on the boro game, severa lfans were saying they dont do defending and are best at attacking. that could prove problematic for them as they will be doing alot of defending on saturday.

looking at the stats if our very strong defence nullifies their attack which is what they are good at, they are in bother.

i think aitor will be fuming after another blank score and the players will be determined to get back on track. saturday could well be the start of the ball bouncing our way again. i predict a good win all our decent chances will go in and we will win 4-1. jacob will score for them. clayton will get his first goal for us and leadbitter will score again. bamford and vossen will get the others. we will have 60+% possession and dominate from start to finish.

i was worried about them but after them saying 3 at the back and not good at defending, they sound like perfect opposition for us.

attendance 19114

score 4-1 boro

bamford

vossen

clayton

leadbitter

and a butterfield consolation.

For some reason it's missing off the : after http when you click on it. Just click on it and then add it yourself in your address bar. No idea why it's not putting it in when it's there on the address.
