AV update

Wing and a prayer... Carlos De Pena is still a race against time with added turbulence .... the flight from Sao Paulo is 800 miles away above the Atlantic and is due into Heathrow at about 3.30pm - but who knows what twists and turns have taken place between the competing interests with a slice of the players registration while it has been airborne? Or who is on it?

We understand that De Pena stopped off in Sao Paulo for a medical during the wait for the connecting flight.

A representative of Nacional's top brass is on the plane though and was scheduled to meet with Boro officials at Heathrow on touchdown where the registration paperwork could be done quickly and whisked off the the FA.

However, naturally, things are far from smooth – in fact is is all a bit of a chew on - with the internal conflict between the various factions back in Uruguay still not resolved and with fans also kicking off about losing a star player and applying political pressure on the board to pull the plug.

I'm starting to think the only player we are after is De Pena but that will probably fall through, Plus we are going to be stuck with Adomah who doesn't want to be hear.

Under 4 hours to go of the transfer window.. It's a big few hours regarding our automatic promotion chances IMO.

If we finish the day with the squad we started we will go up

If we lose Albert we will go up

If we sign a lad from Uruguay that will probably take a while to find his feet we will go up

If Albert stays we will go up

If De Pena did indeed have a medical in Sao Paulo before the connecting flight, it must have been a very quick one. He would have had only 3 hours in Sao Paulo tops. There's so much conflicting information, including reports that he'll give a press conference after the medical. Well, there's been no press conference yet, so I would expect him on the plane from Brazil in less than 1 hour from now.
