Boro V York City (A) Friendly 1-0

Recommended Posts

We say that about youth squad members every season and in all honesty if they had played last season we wouldn't have finished where we did. One or two a season in and around the squad is healthy. More is too much IMO.

But we didn't bring one or two through last season, Gibson and Reach had already broken through the season before IMO.

If it is a broken ankle its not that bad really, they don't take that long to heal, were still a month away from kick off, he'd be back by November, its better for it to happen now than to happen at the riverside a week before Preston.

It's on Middlesbrough FC's Facebook page, suspected broken leg.

In fairness they probably just seen the 'crowd hear the snap' comments and put 2+2 together - could be anything.

Its been a disappointing week but I tell you what could be a positive and a blessing in-disguise.......

Not signing Given, What we were going to use on hes wages can now be used on a new defender.

BORO LEAD: The young striker did everything right!

Lee Tomlin touched it into his path with a neat touch, Fewster took one touch to get away from the defender before sliding the ball underneath the goalkeeper.

It's harsh on York who have made a decent fist of this in the second half but Boro ahead.

He's had his leg broken by Trialist A. I guess his parents couldn't decide if they wanted a baby or not.

:D

Apparently it was Danny Johnson, who we had on trial the other year after his 56 goal season for Guisborough, that went into the tackle with Baptiste.

FT 1-0

And that wraps up our first pre-season of the summer. Bradley Fewster's second half strike proved to be the matchwinner, really well-taken finish it was as well.

York impressed, particularly in the second half, and will perhaps feel hard done by to have lost.

But a winning start for Boro, and a clean sheet to go with it. Normal service resumed as far as that's concerned.
