I agree with that Dane, but you have to utilise what you have in your armoury and personally this is the best option to create balance and utilise Downing through the middle.

It is, but if you want to change the current lineup/tactics it should be for the better, and I'm not sure bringing Reach back would make it better than it currently is. More likely to be status quo.

Preston have held talks with Boro about extending Reach's loan beyond January.

What's the alternative? I can't imagine we'll be allowed to spend another £2 million or so on another left winger whilst academy product Reach and project De Pena get up to speed?

I think we will. If it will get us over the line, I think Gibbo will sanction a signing or a high learning loan, provided that player is identified as a missing piece of the puzzle.

The alternative is Adomah on the left while CDP gets up to speed with Stewey as "backup".

I've never liked Adomah on the left. Last Friday was the first decent game i've seen him have there. He's usually far less effective on the left, however following last friday i'd certainly continue with him there this Saturday to see where it goes, but based on past experience he's not the long term solution. On the same note De Pena isn't the short term solution and i'd nail Downing to that No.10 spot for the rest of the season which leaves a hole as i see it.

That's how i'd play it personally.

Ye I'm expecting at least 1 big signing come January to help get us over the line. Gibbo will have learnt from previous January transfer windows.

I don't think we'll make any signings, probably get another couple of Spaniards on a 2 month loan or something like that, but I can't see Gibbo spending any more money.

Do you think we have already contacted Chelsea & Bamford about coming back.. I think we should be trying our best right now to bring him back asap in January.

I wonder if Bamford is considering coming back or if he has ruled it out in his own mind.

Bamford is a tease with a tweet he put out on Friday watching us play... Is it a hint or would he of done it regardless of who the teams were?

That's exactly my take on the situation.

I don't think Karanka would be doing his job if he hadn't had some form of contact with Chelsea.

I'm surprised you haven't posted a link yet KM :)

Apparently the NE are saying Boro are ready to make a move next month for Bamford as he will end his loan spell at Palace in January.

I wonder how much we are trying to bring him back... Hopefully we persuade him.

I saw the story last night on Twitter when one of the NE Journo's posted a screenshot of the backk page so there was no link to the article otherwise I would have done so. :)

I think it's fairly obvious we will move for him in January. If he isn't here by January 31st I will be shocked.
