Boro Face Sheffield United In Opening Game

Middlesbrough FC will play Sheffield United at home on the opening game of the Championship season.

 

Sheffield United narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League last season, loosing to Burnley in the play-off final.

 

The game will be played on August 8th 2009.

Boro will then travel to Swansea City on Saturday 15th August.

 

The first Championship mid-week game will be away at S***horpe, on Tuesday 18 August.

 

Boro then face Doncaster United at home on Saturday, 22 August 2009.

 

Middlesbrough FC's final 3 games are (2010);

Saturday 17 April - West Brom (a)

Saturday 24 April - Coventry (h)

Sunday 2 May - Leicester (a)

Hey,

 

Looking forward to this season, and a good way to kick off. Should be a good game!

 

Think we need to get the ball rolling, so the first 5/6 games could be crucial. Sheff U, Swansea, S***horpe, Donny, Bristol City and Ipswich are all winnable.

    • Swansea average 66% possession every match so I imagine their fans see that sort of game a lot. I'd prefer us to be adaptable and exploit a team's weakness with Long Balls than to try and play right into their hands.  I've seen enough from Wilder's first 4 games that we'll play a modern style of football for the most part. But I'd always prefer us to be a winning team than an attractive team... 
    • It's also happened twice in Rangers history (McCoist, McDowell and McCall/White, Waddell and Wallace)
    • Smogsterking is right,  I just googled Celtic managers and before Jock Stein they had the trio of Willie Maley, Jimmy McStay and Jimmy McGrory
    • Writing that gave me flashbacks of Noel Whelan and Andy Campbell.
    • I would love Utd at Riverside so I can take my little cousin to watch Cr7 who he is obsessed with. Cr7 probs would not play but would like to think he on bench and has to come on when we are leading them but his efforts prove in vain as we knock them out.
