Summer 2016 Transfer window

Dimi is 100% better at claiming crosses and commanding his area than Valdes. But other than that I agree Valdes is a better all round keeper.

Got any stats that prove he's 100% better at claiming crosses and commanding his area?

No stats but it's pretty obvious from watching our games that he is. Dimi comes and collects high balls a lot more than Valdes. But you'd expect that with him being a good bit taller. Again, I believe Valdes is a much better all round keeper but Dimi is definitely better in the air than Valdes.

And btw you can't compare these two with stats as their history in terms of teams and leagues is completely incomparable.

I can't believe people are even putting Dimi as anywhere near being on the same league as Valdes. Dimi lost us points last year and would've been my first priority to replace as soon as we got up. I like him and he seems like a nice guy who loves the club and the area, but I would've wanted a new keeper for The Championship never mind the PL.

Is it just me that doesn't understand the gorilla thing?

It's all in the Swahili name.

Have to admit it makes less sense after a previous post was deleted by the author.

You can say that again

I'm assuming it signifies the appearance of a figure of authority that would mean to get people back on track.

Yes, he's one mean-looking customer and he seems to do the trick most times. ;)

Sweet Baby Jesus! Everyone has a right to their opinion, but some of the stuff Iv been reading lately is laughable. Dimi even being compared to Valdes... WTF.

Dimi had the best season of his career, with pretty much the best defence in the league in front of him. He is no where near good enough to be playing in the Prem, even with rose tinted glasses.

You don't play nearly 400 games for one of the best teams in the world without being world class. Fair enough he hasn't played in a while and might be a bit rusty, but he is still a top class keeper.

Also you can't really 'blame' Valdes for the goal on Saturday. It was an exceptional free kick from a top quality player... he had no right to put it across the keeper from that position but he did. Maybe with a few games under Valdes's belt he might of tipped it wide.

What's the overall opinion of Adomah from Saturday? I recon we need another winger, keep Adomah as a squad player. He's just a speed boat with no final product.... although he did put two good crosses in, Ill give him that. Wasted more opportunities than he should of though.

My opinion from the end of last season hasn't changed - Adomah just isn't s premier league player - yes its early days but he needs to improve on his form from last season and his consistency, I personally don't think he has it in him - although I would be happy to be proved wrong by him.

For me, I'm in two minds as to whether Albert would be a success in the Prem. I thought for the first half of last season, he was our weakest link in our starting 11 so to speak. But the second half of the season he looked like one of the first names on the team sheet. My problem with him is, in a league now where we wont be dominating games and chances will be scarce, can we afford to have a player who is so inconsistent with his final pass, cross, shot? For me, he put in 1 or 2 out of 5 good crosses or passes when we are in genuinely excellent positions to create an opportunity. I'd like him to add a more consistent final product because his work rate and general play can be outstanding, but for me I think his level is more than likely the Championship.

Moving on from this goalkeeping debate...

Is anyone else mildly concerned about our lack of options at RW if Adomah continues to misfire in that position. We don't seem to be too concerned in strengthening this position, even though in my eyes its one of the weakest areas.

I know Downing could play there, with Fischer LW, but that doesn't really enthuse me.

I think we may have missed a trick not getting a good tricky winger like Januzaj or someone of the same ilk.

Last time I checked we still had two weeks of the window left. ;)

Haha very true, just not heard much rumblings about anything in that position. I think I'd feel more comfortable if we had someone who could either start RW, or at least put the pressure on Adomah for that starting berth.

Completely agree mind, as LinoJo says above I think we'll definitely bring in another attacker, still feel we may break our transfer record on one.
