pikerman 1,121
The old saying that winning becomes a habit unfortunately also works in reverse, so does losing,so tonight was pretty bad. In summary we lost to a lower ranked club, we had two full backs injured , we now have doubts that Fischer and Baptiste can play at this level and the writing is on the wall for Rhodes, De Pena, Reach and Adomah aaarrrgh! What happened to the heady days of summer and that win over Sunderland, it hardly seems like only 3 days ago. Easy there. Writing is on the wall for De Pena I'd say, maybe Reach depending on if Karanka wants him to cover LB or not. Rhodes may or may not be going, seems no one knows what's up there. Adomah will not leave - two poor performances does not result in our only RM (by trade) being sold. Thanks Gilbert, (and Wilson), I feel calmer now :sleepy:
SmogDane 4,055
Does anyone knows which injurys our 2 left backs picked up and for how long time they will be injured?
juninho9 35
Just back from the game and very disappointed. Thought we were going to push on after the goal but we never did. Boring, slow, sideways was our game and we didn't look like scoring at all. Guzan had no chance with the goals, but De Sart should've done better tracking his man back for the first, and Ayala went diving in and was missing at the back when the cross came in for second. Ayala did that a few times. I thought Baptiste was alright, unsure why so many are on his back here. He was one who actually put crosses into the box, while everyone else seemed scared to do that. De Sart only one to take distance shots, and Forshaw only one to try a different pass, other than the same old switching sides. Unsure how Downing is still getting game time. Fischer was awful and needs to track back more. Nugent got his goal but nothing else. Stuani actually tried a little to get forward but was always shut out. Fulham wanted it more, at the end of the day. Worrying thing is, a lot of this XI was our first team, and that was Fulham's back up. Shame their fans were awful until the end of the game when they were winning.
Arskite 75
Does anyone knows which injurys our 2 left backs picked up and for how long time they will be injured? Friend was definitely a calf strain, Fabio seemed to take a kick to the top of the foot (?). Prognosis won't be available until they're both assessed. Hopefully we'll find that out from Karanka's presser tomorrow/Friday.
wilsoncgp 9,280
I'm not sure I saw any criticism of Baptiste as such, I'm more just concerned that he's likely going to be our left-back against West Brom and he isn't a left-back. It doesn't scream balanced full-backs and goes back to the days of playing players like Seb Hines out there. Not to say Baptiste is as bad as Seb Hines was.

Hopefully we'll find that out from Karanka's presser tomorrow/Friday. In AK's interview, he said Fabio had done his knee and at the least won't be fit for Sunday. George did look like he'd done his calf and AK said waiting for the Doctor's opinion on that one.

Pyro 7
Just got back from the game... I wasn't too bothered by the result, but the performance was poor. I was sitting with my Fulham fan friends - my god it was horrible having everyone cheering around me when they scored their second goal! We started well and scored early, but offered virtually nothing from that moment on. I was really keen to see some of the new faces but was disappointed by them all. Guzan does not fill me with confidence, too often play bypassed De Sart, I think Clayton touched the ball three times as often & as for Fischer - I hope he turns out to be a great player, but he contributed nothing tonight. There weren't too many positives... Fabio looked decent with his early touches as well as his assist & it was great to see Dani Ayala back. I do hope Fabio & Friend are not out for long. Disappointing evening, albeit in a game which didn't have too much competitive importance (for me anyhow).

Baptiste didn't have a bad game tonight... he showed some decent touches at both RB and then at LB. He looked quite comfortable, until Fulham brought on the Spanish lad (De La Torre), who raced past him a couple of times. I wouldn't really want him playing at LB on Sunday though, as likely as it looks.
Alves car salesman 152
Could we see Gibson out at left back? Reach?
wilsoncgp 9,280
I think Gibson has long passed the point he's going to be utilised as a left back. Reach is probably my favoured choice to start there.
Pyro 7
I'm confident if Fabio/Friend are out that Baptiste would start there ahead of Friend. There is no chance he would play Gibson LB in the same mould as Amorebieta.
chipchat 61
I missed everything after the Boro goal thanks to a power cut - but not overly upset that we're out in a season where we've just gotten promoted. Annoying that it went into overtime, though, and that we picked up some injuries. Good luck to Fulham for future rounds.
Lord_Moose 387
I don't think this game tells us anything about the future of JR, you'd imagine that had we not had two injuries he would have been brought on at one point.
gephind 7
I think Gibson has long passed the point he's going to be utilised as a left back. Reach is probably my favoured choice to start there. Gibson needs to improve his distribution of the ball to move there. Often he is very average with his use.
