SmogDane 4,057
[video=youtube] THE FA CUP, SATURDAY 3.00 PM It's time to get revenge against Accrington Stanley, who beat us 1-2 last time they visited Riverside Stadium in the Capital One Cup in 2013. Match report and teams here: http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/23499329 THE FORM Well, in the FA Cup Middlesbrough did well with a good 3-0 win at home against Adam Reach's new home Sheffield Wednesday. In the Premier League the mighty Boro is at the moment not doing too well, and this cup game vs Accrington Stanley from League 2, could give us a boost when it comes to goalscoring. Hopefully Rudy Gestede and the other new signing Paddy Bamford can put the leather in the net, to start a goalscoring streak, which could help us to get far in the FA Cup and secure another season in the EPL. THE OPPOSITION Accrington Stanley is currently 20th in League 2 and on their way to face Boro in the FA Cup Round 4 Accrington has beaten Bradford, Woking and Luton. Coach John Coleman will have to rely on topscorer Billy Kee, if Accrington Stanley will leave the Riverside with better than a defeat. POSSIBLE BORO LINE UP Brad Guzan Fabio, Bernardo, Fry, Husband Forshaw, Leadbitter, Clayton Bamford, Gestede, Fischer HELLO FROM THE OTHERSIDE Accrington Stanley Forum: http://www.accringtonweb.com/forum/f93/ SCORE PREDICTION BORO 4 - 0 Accrington This is my first matchday thread, be gentle :)
Humpty 3,261
My line up: Valdes Fabio Chambers Gibson Friend Leadbitter De Roon Traore Ramirez Downing Gestede If Ramirez isn't fit, i'd play Stuani further up behind Gestede.
Tom 2,492
My line up: Valdes Fabio Chambers Gibson Friend Leadbitter De Roon Traore Ramirez Downing Gestede If Ramirez isn't fit, i'd play Stuani further up behind Gestede. I don't think that will be far off, but if Bamford is going to start a game in the next few weeks, it'll be this one. Maybe Bamford - Downing - Stuani behind the striker, assuming Gaston is still out.
SmogDane 4,057
Remember, we have West Bromwich a few days after this one. That's why I think some will be rested, and others get the chance.

DanFromDownSouth 1,706
Would very much like us to get past Accy, then get a home draw next round. I'm in Boro for the weekend of the 5th round, so would be handy to tie in a family visit and game. As for line up who knows it'll be like a pick n mix, from woolys! I'd probably go for the tried and tested 4-2-3-1 Guzan Barragan, Bernardo, Gibbo, Friend Leadbitter, Clayton Stuani, Ramirez, Downing Gestede If Gaston is injured, I'd be tempted to chuck Fischer in. Neverbefore 10,942
Guzan Fabio espinoza Gibson friend Leadbitter Clayton forshaw Bamford negrado fischer Is my guess.
Borodane 6,301
I would really like to see a return to 4-2-3-1 for this. No point in playing 3 CM/DMs in this game. Maybe even 4-2-2-2 with Bamford and Gestede/Negredo up front.

boro-unger 3,870
I'd like to see bamford and Gestede get a run out. Perfect opportunity for bamford to feel his way back into a competitive match and Gestede looked lively when he's come off the bench so far. I'd go -----------Guzan Fabio chambers gibson friend ---Leadbitter clayton Bamford Ramirez Downing ----------Gestede

Borodane 6,301
Is Ramirez in contention? I think I read that he was back in first team training.
SmogDane 4,057
Thank you Boro Unger I hope it will be the first of many in a row, if you know, what I mean :) Am I the only one, who thinks we will rest Gibson and Chambers plus De Roon and Negredo, as we have an important league game only 3 days after this cup game? Yes, I actually think we'll rest all of them, aside from one of the two CBs, who will have to play with Ayala being out. AK might play Bernardo and Fry, but I don't think he will, as it would mean Fry can't go back out on loan.
thomas 501
Ramirez if fit should get some game time i think particularly if we are winning, i would bring him off the bench with 15-20 mins to go get some match fitness in the build up to the crucial game with west brom.
