LinoJo3 3,191
Some Italian article I think, like the very first one when the news broke that we wanted/were getting him. It was 100% mentioned in January.
Borodane 6,301
Yes there was reports of that, which was probably true, but as the transfer dragged out I'm fairly sure it was because we weren't ready to pay Penarol for someone who only had what looked like a pro forma contract to make some extra money. In the end I think the reports were that Ramirez' agent had smoothed things out with Penarol and allowed Ramirez to move. Apart from some dodgy rumours there is nothing that says we paid anywhere near 5 million for him. Thats from my memory though.
AstoriaBoro 152
Notwithstanding the Penarol fee, wasn't the delay in confirming the fee related to Ramirez's work permit application situation. As long as we recoup any transfer or player fees I'll be happy. I'll be glad to see the back of him after the way he acted in the second part of last season. Personally I don't think he's Premiership class even if he thinks he is.
Snowblind 1,734
Aye, the reports said the initial hold up was 'agreeing a compensation fee' with Peñarol (Gazette), then needing to appeal the Work Permit decision due to his 'move' to Uruguay. In fairness, I think Will & BD are right that there was never a confirmation of the fee we paid Peñarol; only a compensation fee was mentioned. But similar to the 'undisclosed' fee we see so often, the only figures that were ever bandied about were around £4m-£5m, so you go with the information you have. Most Boro fans thought he was a steal at that price...
ASDFC101 9
Just remembered about the de Pena guy we signed, is he getting moved on? Probably out of his depth even in the championship
"KM" 1,656
Curtis Davies signs for Derby County. Good signing for them. Would have had him here in a heartbeat.

Borodane 6,301
I see Stuani got 45 minutes for Uruguay yesterday. If we want to move him on it certainly does us no harm that he is still a part of the Uruguayan setup. Personally I'd move him on and buy either a specialist winger or a quicker striker. If we can get 2 million then fine by me.
Duvel 2,446
I'd be happy keeping Stuani as a backup wide player/striker his record of chipping in with goals was pretty decent in the Championship. I'd be more inclined to ship out Traore, he'd bring in a bigger fee and contributes very little.

I'd be more inclined to ship out Traore, he'd bring in a bigger fee and contributes very little. With a pre-season under his belt, and a year more experience, plus not playing against the better defenders in the country, I think Traore could be a real asset this year. Snowblind 1,734
Ederson signs for City? OMG! Can't believe we didn't get him. We're one of the top 30 richest clubs in Europe and even in the Championship we're an attractive option for anyone. Ridiculous! Small club mentality. #GibsonOut

I think out of all of our players, I want to keep hold of Traore and Fischer most. Reckon they will both have a terrific season if we do.

Bargain!
