Summer Transfer Thread, (Closes 8pm tonight)

Recommended Posts

Seen as though we have a habit of signing ex players...

Marvin Emnes is a free agent.

BRING HIM HOME.

You've already suggested this, and it wasn't funny then...

Just ignore Will.  I think it's hilarious and you should do it every day.

Yeah ignore Will, I want big Marv every 15 mins please.

I'd prefer to keep hold of Friend in the Championship, but if we get good money i'd happily wave him off. He's a good character but as a footballer i'd like to think we could improve on him in that position if we spent a bit of cash.

I think a lot will depend on how many first teamer we shift. We need to keep some sort of consistency, and Friend, I think, is one of those players that really puts the team first and is excellent to have in the squad. I don't think we will recieve an offer that is too good to turn down, so I don't think it will be from a financial point of view. It will likely also cost a fair amount to replace him with someone better.

Friend is more than good enough for this side in the Championship. I'm still on the fence with relation to the PL because he was injured half the season, I'd say plenty of the 25 games he did play, he was still recovering from injuries too.

If you want the squad to be strong though, I think we need another left-back anyway. We'll see how Husband goes under Monk but his development must have been hindered so much with so little game time. IMO, keep Friend and bring in another left-back to challenge him for the spot. Don't leave us needing to fill the left-back role twice.

I'd rather bring in a great right-back and have Fabio challenge for both those positions while also keeping Husband as a third choice LB. The right hand side definately needs an upgrade.

I'd rather not operate under the assumption Fabio is both cover for left and right. We did that last season and got rid of Nsue which ended up being a terrible decision (without replacing him) because we then had no right-back when the injuries hit us.

Management needs to make their mind up on Fabio. Is he a left-back or a right-back in the grand scheme of the squad? If he's a left back, then we don't even need to look for one during the window. We're sorted in that position.

Whys everyone forgetting about Barragan? Our throw in specialist will once again show his true class next season.

Even Agnew had forgotten about him by the end of the season.

Now why would you go and mention his name. I had happily blocked his name out of my memory.

He did a good job when he played at CB, maybe that's his strongest position, it also keeps him away from the touchline. I'd prefer Barragan as a back up CB rather than Baptiste.

I think the guy had like 8-10 foul throws last season, which surely must be some sort of record?

So you're saying he's the best in the world at something? Just reinforces my point.

That I don't understand. Babtiste knows this league and Barragan is probably on much bigger wages and would fetch a bigger transfer fee. That said I'd rather have a better player than either of those two. But as fifth choice I'd probably keep Babtiste.

My reasoning is, I've never seen Baptiste play for us, but Barragan started the season well and didn't initially look out of his depth in the Premier league. Granted, he got worse, as did a lot of the team, but he'll be fine in the championship.
