Positives:

- We only lost by 1 goal. Goal-difference is important, even more important than points some would say.

 

Negatives:

- We lost. Obviously not a big deal, as it's the first game of the season, and there's absolutely no way in hell those 3 points might mean the difference between promotion/play-offs....

- We don't have a player at the club that is deemed more capable than Clayton in taking set-pieces.

 

That is pretty funny like.  I'm trying to imagine what training must be like.  Someone runs up to take a corner but trips over the corner flag, someone else tries to take a freekick but boots the ground etc, someone else launches one Peter Kay style etc etc etc.

Yeah but oddly his speciality is goal kicks.

If Clayton truly is the best we've got to deliver set pieces, we're going to struggle to score many goals from them, directly or indirectly.

He is certainly better than Clayton who is an absolute dud at taking corners. Claytons free kicks were ok though, which is a bit weird.

If only we had Ramirez today. We really missed that quality link between midfield and attack. It's was simply sideways passing and long punts. Really wished the Gazette would show up and ask Monk if long ball tactics was the way forward for this season. Abject.

It's one game. Neither side looked great. A 0-0 draw would have been a fairer result, but that's football. Let's give it a little longer before the forum melts down. UTB!

Its not 4-2-4 though is it, its an attacking 4-3-3 as MBP said, or 4-2-1-3 with Brathwaite dropping in helping out defensively when required, like he did against Augsberg.
