oneboro 160
Should Garry Monk give youth a chance in the Carabao Cup? by @theweldon88 Boro welcome S***horpe to The Riverside for the first time since 2011. Kris Boyd and Tony McMahon scored the goals that day in a comprehensive 2-0 Boro win. That day 11 of the match day squad came from the academy and have long since moved on. So in the Cup that has been so good to Middlesbrough over the years why not give youth a chance. Sure Garry Monk will make changes. Likely starts for all of the subs for the last couple of games. Baker, Fletcher, Dimi, Leadbitter, Fabio, Roberts and Traore will all be looking to make a claim for a starting berth at home to Preston on Saturday before the international break. How far will he go. It all depends on how he treats the competition. What were the instructions from Steve Gibson at the start of the season. Does The Chairman want a cup run along with promotion. boro_fan_in_brum 604
I think he should stick with a first team squad based on how fit they all are etc. The team needs as much time together as possible.
Humpty 3,261
No. Team needs game time to gel together.
MidleastBoro 30
Agree with Humpty. Normally I'm a fan of blooding youngsters etc, but given that this team needs game time together to gel, this game is another opportunity for that.
richmfc 41
Start baker and traore keep the rest the same
BillyWoofs_shinpad 1,884
Start baker and traore keep the rest the same I'd like to see Fletch get a run out too, bring him an Adama in for Bamford and Gestede, drop Forshaw for Baker and maybe give Fabio a game, Bamford and Friend have both picked up knocks recently, a rest might do them good. estonpidge 1,449
Rest the FB's give the bench a run out, seasons to long not to rest, 3 pts at the weekend is way more important
wilsoncgp 9,283
This team will play more than enough mid-week games without cup games. They have to be able to be fit for 3 games within 7 days. No time like the present.
